Or you go to Walmart and buy a new main Batt for 135. Then a new Aux batt for 110.
Then spend an hour replacing them yourself.

Seriously, you would pay a dealer to replace your batteries?

how hard is the aux batt to get at?
I think there is video out there on it but the two methods I have seen are the approved method of going through the right wheel well moving the fender liner out of the way to gain access.

Other method I have seen that is not approved is top down moving the fuse box out of the way to get to it.

Hell no, I would do it myself. Eventually I will move to the Genesis Dual Battery setup.

Is the whole purpose of the aux battery to prevent voltage sag to the cars electronics when the starter is engaged, drawing down the voltage on the main battery?

What is PDC in your diagram above??
The primary purpose of the second battery is to keep the computers stable during ESS events. If the voltage level gets too low, the computer systems behavior becomes very erratic and results in odd problems and error messages.

The Genesis install video on their web site shows how to remove it. They use the top down, take out the fuse box method.

Ok. So Yes. It makes sense. The starter draws so much power that the overall bus voltage sags A ALOT when you turn the starter. And if you want to keep all the computers powered up, that's not something you can have happen.

But if you can do a swap yourself, there isn't any reason to spend $850 on a dual battery setup.

Just drive the truck with the normal batteries and when one of the batteries gets low, swap them both out.

I sincerely don't understand what you are trying to achieve. What would the goal be for an accessory like this? It seems to be a solution to a non problem. Or at least a problem that can be temporarily solved with 2 -2 foot long pieces of 14 AWG wire with alligator clips on each end.

I just want to clarify that if you buy this kit for its intended purpose, which is being able to use accessories and not risk drawing down the starting battery, it is absolutely brilliant.

But to spend that kind of money just to hedge against a failed Aux battery is just plain dumb.

Guess what happened again today…?at least it was only a few miles from a dealership where I bought an extra auxiliary battery to take back to my dealer. I thought I’d have longer than a week to come up with an emergency solution, but such is life. Let me add that the second dealer told me this is a problem across multiple models and, for now, I’ll always have an extra battery so I don’t get stranded in another state(Virginia this time) again

Maybe it’s giving you a sign it doesn’t want to go back to Baltimore.. likes PA and VA over MD. What ever you do don’t go to Indianapolis. (Hope you get the issues resolved)

Are they replacing BOTH batteries each time? As was mentioned earlier, because they are not truly isolated, when one goes bad, it usually takes the other one with it.
