First off, my dealer is great. I order most of our work trucks through them. So when my wife and I wanted to replace our 2016 JKU we obviously went with my local dealer. We ordered the Gladiator on Feb 8th, and it came in this Monday, March 21st. I picked it up, and drove home. We took it on a short drive (70 miles) to dinner, got home, pulled it in, put it on the lift and disassembled it for the 3" j venture lift and 37's. When I dropped off the wheels and tires at the dealer the following morning to get mounted, everyone's jaws dropped. From the salesman to the techs, they are amazed I would "risk my factory warranty" to lift a brand new truck. It never ceases to amaze me how some will let the promise of possible warranty, affect how or why they do things.
That's hilarious because the dealer I go to for warranty work actually lifts them and puts bigger tires and wheels on them, THEN sells them. Sure, they have plenty of stock Gladiators on the lot but now and then they pull one out of inventory, lift it (and of course add $$) and show it off right out front. Full warranty.
The lift will only affect the parts replaced for the most part. If you bust a spring or shock, it's on you (or the lift supplier)

Yes, I'm ok with going aftermarket for parts I'm willing to replace myself. So I'd do a lift kit in heartbeat, from a reputable manufacturer. I'm more hesitant on things like tunes, superchargers, that kind of stuff. Because if it breaks, it gets real expensive real fast. Done that a couple of times.

Local dealers around here and neighboring state all do it as well.

At my local dealership, my wife and I have purchased a lot of vehicles through them. I personally made an effort to make friends with the service managers. This has resulted in having everything fixed on all my Jeeps through warranty(sometimes out of warranty), no matter what I modifications I had done.

On my 2015, I had removed everything Jeep underneath and replaced with aftermarket stuff. They never questioned it when I needed work done on it. Actually, they love it when I show up, it's like a car show to them lol. Currently, tried installing Rockslide Steps and snapped a bolt. Took it up there for help getting it out. I went and picked it up and offered to pay for my screw up, they waved me off and said be careful next time.

Kind of why I bought from here, the guys are good, just scared of mods.

On the other side, since the cost of the modifications will most likely exceed the purchase price of my truck, should I be worried that the manufacturers may void the warranty of my accessories when I tell I them Installed them on a Jeep?

Most parts have their own warranty.......aftermarket or MOPAR. And in the case of MOPAR, they told me up front if I did a MOPAR lift, it would be covered either way - under truck warranty or parts warranty. Aftermarket or 3rd party parts from reputable places like you say will cover their own parts and some even will go so far to say "if our part breaks your part, we'll cover it" but that's rare these days.
I had a water pump go out years ago - took out hoses and they covered water pump, hoses and coolant. Their part broke my parts.

That act gets tossed about as if people have read the law in detail, studied cases on it and are about to pass the bar. Yeah, it does protect, but it gets tossed out there waaay too often.
The thing in the OP's post is that even the sales people were surprised? That I have to laugh about as most of them wouldn't know squat when it comes to warranty, they assume. Even many techs aren't all that well-versed on warranty text, exclusions and so on. So I take some of that amazement with a grain of salt. No one in the know would be surprised at all. They may be great to deal with, maybe a great shop doing great work - but really? they acted, IMO, like they were new to new vehicle sales.

I have sent pictures to the guy I bought from, told him of my changes and he never bats an eye, makes positive comments about looks and how it likely makes xxx so much better, etc. And the shop I deal with now knows what I have on and in my truck, even to the point of spring and shock swaps and they just shrug like "oh, well".

You could put the same lift and tires on it for less than half what they upcharge you...
Some could, yes, but others prefer to buy them ready to go and put the mods right into the financing. Easier to justify, and some just don't have the time or space or ability...... and buy things ready to go.

We could all cook our own meals, too........ (well, some of us could!) yet we buy convenience foods for twice the price.

I was at the dealer a few weeks ago getting my batteries replaced and asked about reprogramming for 35's. They said sure and it would cost around $350 because they had to buy the software from Jeep then install it. I said no thanks, might as well buy a tazer.
That's ridiculous, it's a 125.00 charge

I’m with you. Lifts don’t typically blow engines. :)

I think it’s pretty much whatever they think they can get away with charging…
True, the actual charge from Mopar is 125 just had it done, I guess it really depends on your dealer.
