but I’m sure the factory bead was put down by a robot.
Count on it. You should see how these, and other vehicles, are put together. Even back in the 80s there was a lot of stuff applied by "robot", sealers and so on.

I’m staging my supplies for a lower oil pan replacement. Probably will do it this fall. The old cross threaded bolt seems to be sealing ok thanks to the generous rubber washer Mopar uses. On the new OEM female drain threads, it looks like copper.

Went ahead and replaced the oil pan. Was going to wait until fall, but without having a heated garage, I thought the RTV application and curing would do better in the warmer weather. Had to make a quick trip to Harbor Freight (sigh) to get a Icon torque inch Lbs. wrench. My other torque wrenches would not that low. So far no leaks.

I’m glad you put the Fumoto oil drain valve. Makes life easier.

Until you take it to a dealership.........
Hey Joe, what the heck is this?
Oh, just unscrew it. It's a fancy drain plug.

I’ve never had an issue like you’re implying. Maybe the tech’s around here are smarter than where you live..💪

I haven't either, but to see how people here talk about 'em...............
Here, they figure things out that others in the country seem to be unable to - from misfires to really weird things that take some thinking.
They even figured out the weird park sense issue with my wife's JLU - being the spare tire having to be oriented a specific way to make sure the TPMS sensor doesn't trigger the park sense when in reverse and a service advisor worked with me figuring out the HVAC vs. snow plow issue - no charge.

I had one on my Tacoma a few years back and the quickie lube places would wrench it off and back on and when confronting them about it, they do not like the extra few minutes for the drain was their answer. I did one time have to go into the service bay of a Firestone to show them how it worked. Started taking it to the dealership and notified them ahead of time of it and they had no problems using it as intended.

This was before the Fumoto's started coming with the lever lock clips and I would imagine now that would go missing if one did not take it off to retain before service.

Fumoto or any other quick drain valve system you have to be somewhat committed to doing your own oil changes as it just adds another layer of confusion and possible error point for the lube techs to mess up.

I only care about getting as much out as possible - if it takes 30 minutes, so be it. There's other stuff to check - start the drain first, then check all of the other fluids - axles, transfer case, wipe the bugs off the glass, go get a drink.
I can see the quicky lube places getting impatient, but I've never worried about how fast the oil drains, only about getting it all out.

On the other hand, if I had such a drain valve, I have a good enough relationship with the folks at the dealership - all I have to do is let them know if there's anything special to watch for.

I plan to do all oil changes going forward. But I’m keeping the OEM drain bolt/gasket in my Jeep just in case.

Jeeps are EASY - I have to lift up on the nose of my Javelin just to slide a floor jack under it so I can raise it and get stands under it - even then I have to dodge the headers and other stuff to get to the drain plug.
The filter - fun - sits right next to the alternator - with battery power on the output post about 1/2" from the oil filter! Better aim good the first time or you'll be replacing some wiring.
