Increasing oil capacity gives the oil more time to rest and cool before its cycled back through the engine. I saw a noticeable difference by going from a 10.5-quart system to a 12-quart system with a deep oil pan on my 2015 EcoDiesel. The downside is it takes longer to get the oil up to operating temperature in the winter months.Would it be better to try to cool the oil more or the coolant more to solve the overheat/derate problem? I guess both in a perfect world,
I was just trying to help with a workable solution.
