I'm curious as well, my engine is currently being replaced, more on that in another postWhat took out the first?
My service manager said he has 3 Ram 1500's Eco's that need their fuel system replaced due to the pump failure.Nope, not heard a word from the dealer.. Have to replace the fuel system is all I know....
To follow up, it has gotten worse . . .At about 17K miles had a very slight fluid leak, especially noticeable after driving all day. Dealer said it was the transfer case, ordered a whole new case, which took 2 months. No more leaks, no idea what caused it.
Just last week the main belt failed at 22K, no hard usage, packing the engine with mud, etc. The dealer said can't tell why, nothing else was harmed.
Very light offroad so far, about 4K miles of pretty serious towing . . . 3,000 pound trailer, full payload in the vehicle. Hot days in Arizona (Sept), very high mountain passes in Wyoming. No overheating, was careful to watch EGT's and keep it all cool.
So far I'm very happy with the vehicle and the engine, even with the above. My only frustration is how busy dealers are, the one closest to me is 6-8 weeks out for any kind of service. I took it there for the belt failure, even knowing it was just the belt could not look at it until July !
Cut your loss, have those stealership fix it and then trade in for something else.To follow up, it has gotten worse . . .
A replacement belt took 3 weeks to arrive. I picked up the truck, 5 miles down the freeway broke again. Dealer said they couldn't tell what make it break, but were going to replace all pulleys and alternator.
First alternator that came in was damaged after a 2 week wait. Next one came in (now about 7 weeks total), they called and said still a lot of vibration on the belt, it would obviously break if I drove it. Obvious question is why they didn't see that first time, but no answer. Called back the next day and said 2 bolts were missing from the AC compressor, that was causing the vibration. overnight to get the bolts, replaced. Then they were getting an oil sensor fault code, ordered a new sensor. When they went to replace the sensor they found a bunch of metal in the engine and said I need a new engine . . . .
So far, no idea what caused the issue, either the first belt or why there's all the metal. Currently, ETA for the engine is October 3rd, though Jeep customer care is trying to expedite. I'm now at 10 weeks in the shop.
I don't understand why it took so long to find the actual cause of belt breakage. I will say they've had constant issues with staff, both finding staff and then people testing positive for the 'vid and can't come to work. The supply chain issues are very real as well. Everyone I've talked to at the dealerships seems overworked and frazzled, they are way backed up on all service.
So far Customer care seems good about a rental car, I've had 1 for 2 weeks which they say they'll reimburse me for entirely. I just messaged them today about another 10 weeks approval, we'll see. I'm overall extremely frustrated with the issues and timeline. But not sure what options I have. With 23K miles I'm outside the CA lemon law window, though I could argue it started with the transfer case. If I get any grief about a rental I'm going to pursue some legal action. I've not been able to take some planned vacations due to not being able to tow.
All that said, having a fresh engine will be nice. I'm going to push to have all my warranties extended by the amount of time in the shop, which will likely end up being 5 months.
Would love any advice or previous experiences dealing with similar situations. This is my first new car in 35 years, first time any major warranty work.
Yeah, I've actually thought of something like that. Up until now I've bought cars with ~75K miles and maintained them myself.Cut your loss, have those stealership fix it and then trade in for something else.
Don't waste time with those incompetent stewardships.
Any of my new vehicles went in for warranty on powertrain, i get rid of them in a heart beat. There is no mechanic or tech i trust except myself.

https://www.lemonlawlawyerscalifornia.com/a-comprehensive-guide-to-california-lemon-law/A lot of what you might read online is that the defect and repair attempts must occur within the first 18 months after the date of sale or before the odometer hits 18,000 miles.
This is not technically true, however, if a defect occurs within these limits, the lemon law case will be much stronger – as these are the figures related to lemon law presumption. It is very important to note, you don’t have to meet the exact requirements of the the lemon law presumption to qualify.
Lemon law lawyers work for free to you, they lose they don't get paid, they win, Stellantis pays them.https://www.lemonlawlawyerscalifornia.com/a-comprehensive-guide-to-california-lemon-law/
I suggest looking at the qualification again just in case you missed something or ask a lawyer. It’s in their interest you don’t.
Wife has 29k on her 21 JLURD, no issues (burnt harness but that's a another story)15000 miles and no issues!!
Thanks, I agree it is worth a call and as I stewed a bit on what I typed I'm more motivated . . . this is going to turn into 5 months of repairs minimum, about 50% of the time I've owned ithttps://www.lemonlawlawyerscalifornia.com/a-comprehensive-guide-to-california-lemon-law/

I would inquire into a dealer or OEM buy back at this point... that's a long time to be without an expensive vehicle, especially if you are carrying a note.To follow up, it has gotten worse . . .
