We've had this issue reported a few times on the Ram forum. If I remember correctly, it was a sensor not working properly in both cases. I do a lot of long-distance towing, so I might go back and find out which sensor was the culprit. That might be a good part to carry with me when traveling. I'd hate for this to happen and find out that the part is on nationwide backorder.
So... I just had to replace my DPF... and the above issue I think was my problem. Here's my sequence of failure (note: i do not have a scan tool, so I do not see DFP % full, EGR temps, nor can force a regen).

1) 2021 with 79k miles, got a check engine light when snowbirding south in late Feb. Took to dealer for oil/fuel service and had them check the CEL. My service report said "Recommend replacing Diesel Particulate Filter and Particulate Matter Sensor". The sensor was on at least 6 week backorder, they said they would order it... they didn't get it in until I was back home in Montana.
2) I did a check on this forum for DPF Sensor Failure, and didn't find any information.
3) In early May, at 85k I took my rig back to the dealer for another oil service (yes, I drive it that many miles), told them the San Diego dealer recommended DPF sensor change... They said they would check the codes, but if there was no code present they would have to charge me for a diganostic check (I have a 100k warrantee on the rig... more on that later). No codes found... no recommended changes.
4) In June, while towing my trailer up to camp, CEL comes on... followed by a dash error code stating "Emission system failure, Take to Dealer"... turned around and drove downhill in derate mode back to the dealer. Dealer said the DPF needed to be replaced... and its not covered on the 100k warranty. $3500. It also threw codes on a "cylinder" error that they normally associate with injectors, and an oil pressure low error. So they checked all that out and didn't find anything needing replacing.
5) I checked the warrantee documentation, and the "Emissions Manifold" is included in the warrantee, but no other Emissions equipment.
6) I'm now asking the dealer to do more to check on the state of the sensor, ... as I'm thinking that was the root cause of my eventual DPF failure.

Either way, you shouldn't see this message when cruising down the highway. I don't even see this message with all the in-town driving that I do.

Yeah, In 87k mi of driving, I only saw the top message once (and ironically I was on a windy mountain road where driving at a "Consistent Speed" was not possible).

Don't think I've ever seen the second one.

And now my DPF is failed !?!

I feel like all the info is just giving people anxiety! So many posts where people are freaking out about nothing just because they interpret the info wrong! Then they come to the internet to ask the experts who pile on more anxiety!

I feel like it would be nice to know IF your truck is actively doing a regen so that I might modify my driving routine if possible and if not, I can expect next trip out will probably start a regen and plan for that?

My DPF shit out at 52K miles without warning.......I say that, but I never looked at the tailpipe to see that it was black indicating there was an internal crack.....That would have been first warning before the code popped up.

I was watching my DPF loading on the Fuzion app, but since swapping to the E-Clik shocks, I can't have both plugged into the OBD port at the same time.
Hey Tony, were you still under a warrantee when your DPF craped out? Or did you have to pay out of pocket for that?

Yes, I had 52k miles on the truck.

The DPF was on backorder, so the dealer used my extended warranty to speed up the process allowing them to source the part from another dealer? Cost me $200 deductible.

Funny I was just thinking about you yesterday as I ride through your hometown!

Hello fellow diesel owners. This last weekend my DPF failed, cracked internally they said, while returning from a long trip in MOAB back to Salt Lake while towing a SxS, the literal most optimal conditions for normal regen. Though under warranty, and the dealer is already working on a replacement, I am just curious to know what has caused your failures of the DPF if you have ever had one? The dealer is kind of trying to say its was improper maintenance related, however, I have my records of maintenance with in spec, ie, oil every 7500 with the initial one at 2500, Air filter every 10k, and fuel filter every 10k. I also take 3 hour highway trips every weekend, which should be good enough for regens.

Yes, I have researched this extensively, but from what I find, I have done everything right. So this is just a curiosity check to see what known causes, or rather what your were told the "why" was that have resulted in failures so I can hopefully avoid future pre-mature DPF replacements. Maybe mine was just a dud form the factory, idk. Maybe some of you have seen failures that are not from common no nos.
Mine failed about two weeks ago on a trip to Montana. Just turned 30k miles. Apparently my turbo also failed. Went into limp mode in the mountains 1000 miles from home. I found the nearest dealer and had to leave it there and rent a vehicle to drive home. I asked the service advisor if I’d done anything wrong and he said no. I’ve had all the regular maintenance done. It’s still at the dealership and have heard nothing from them about the status other than they had to remove the cab and order more parts. Between the fuel pump issue and recall, bubbling paint issues and now this, I’m very disappointed in the Jeep Gladiator Diesel. I have never been stranded in any other vehicle I’ve owned (Toyotas) except for the Jeeps I’ve owned.

I know what you mean. I hate to admit it but this truck has been giving the bad omen signs since 10k when I first got a CEL for a fuel error when ever I change elevation rapidly or during off road. Then the DPF failure, and now just recently I keep getting P0341 and my truck just stalls and dies, usually at a red light while in drive. Putting it in park truns in back on. But wtf. I'm a Ford guy, this is my first non-ford. Never had an issue with any of my Fords.. starting to think I should have gotten that Ranger Raptor lol. As much as I love this truck.

My '14 Ram diesel cracked a DPF inside at about 15K miles just enough to have soot in the exhaust tip. No CEL or message. Dealer replaced it under warranty. No problems since .

It's probably just the way you typed it, but that sounds like the auto start stop system is doing what it's supposed to be doing.

Not the auto start stop, mine actually dies, CEL comes on and won't turn back on until its placed in park. My auto start stop is disabled. But even when I had it, it turns back when letting off the brake.

I'll PM you on questions on the warrantee... wonder why yours was covered and mine not.
