Yeah, I read that after I wrote this. I wish I would have known about the white plate not working before I went to the dealership, it would have made things a lot easier to navigate.
My OCD is getting the best of me. I still can’t figure out why the sleeve comes out of the notches. Is it during assembly or reassembly? Is the sleeve or the lever defective.

I believe the white piece is not retracting back out when the connectors are disassembled. So it exposes the pins. It sounds like the male connectors are defective on some of our Jeeps.

So it looks like these connectors are made by yazaki. I ordered a male and female to do some testing. What I can see is that when the connector is pushed together, the lever rotates and the sleeve moves past the notch. During disassembly, the sleeve gets hung up and is not caught by the notch. Alsmost appears that gravity drops the sleeve and then pops into the notch as the lever is rotated. Have a call into the company and have not heard anything. I am determined to figure it out.

Well got my answer today. Confirmed with the supplier of the connector that the protective sleeve, officially called the male blade protector, is preset from the factory in the the “protect” position. Once the connectors are mated together, the protector then moves and remains in the pushed in position. The connector is not designed to move the blade protector back to the preset protect position during disassembly. The only way to move the protector back to the preset protect position is manually. Seems like jeep chose the wrong style connector for a multiple assembly/disassembly application.

Bent pins are not user error, it’s a connector used for the wrong application.

It certainly would be nice if you all came up with a fix for this cause its a pain in the butt to deal with. I got the jeep to take doors off and have been trying so carefully to make sure to put these plugs back together with care (Which I shouldn't have to baby it that much). I just had me doors off and then putting them back on I again was ever so careful to make sure everything was reconnected carefully. All seemed to go fine lined up and reconnected but nope started having some issues. Pulled the plugs and seems like one of the passenger side pins somehow got out of line. I straightened it up best I could and hoping that all is going to continue to work well. But I should not have to go through with this every time I take off my doors

I agreed. It's a complicated over engineered connector

I have managed to fix it myself so far but really those plugs need to be changed. For someone who takes doors on and off a lot there could be a better solution

I finally had my appointment to get new connectors, good news and bad news.

Good News is the new connector works perfectly, the sleeve slide down right to the edge of the pins to protect them and I was able to easily put it back together.

Bad news is the dealership told me BOTH sides were in but only the passenger side was and I was to wait a little longer for the drivers side. Progress I suppose

My service advisor did say Chrysler knows why the pins were bent but wouldn’t go beyond saying that. I pressed and he just said “they know why they are getting bent” I told him say no more. Hopefully this becomes a service bulletin for everyone else having an issue.

Does anyone know which pin specifically operates the power windows? Initially I was having an issue with both BSM and the power windows though after playing with the pins I was able to get the BSM back on but the power windows are still not functioning. If I knew which pain exactly it was I can focus my efforts on that one. Thanks in advance!

Do you have part numbers?

Looks like I must have a bent pin. Pretty sure my defrost doesn’t work on my drivers side mirror and the lock/unlock button doesn’t illuminate at night. But the power mirror and the lock button work just fine. I have an appointment next week for a new issue of burping up gas all over at fill ups. Ill see if they can check it out while it’s there.

my power mirrors not working.. musta bent a pin on passenger side as evidently that controls both mirrors.
I saw a JL video where the owner fixed the pin, but said to disconnect battery before doing so? Is this correct?

I suppose that makes sense in the event any of those wires are powered and you touch more than one pin while trying to straighten things.
