If these are useless out of the box without a programmer I'm gonna be pretty upset. I was going to install them tomorrow before going on a week long camping trip with my family, but I'm having second thoughts now.

Can Oracle please confirm if this requires programming? And if so, exactly which set up?

If you had factory halogen and you want to remove the included resistors, you program it. Otherwise, just install them as is straight from the box.

You will need some double sided tape to mount the resistor.

People are saying that they flicker and the reverse lights don't stay on with the stock halogen setup if you don't reprogram it

You should not need any programming, if you want to remove the resistor and have a programmer by all means use it. Just follow the directions: If you have LED lights unplug the resistor, if no then don't.

What could be causing the flickering when just in daylight running mode? I have the halogens and left the resistors in place. Is it possible one of the resistors isn't working?

Def. not as plug n play as they say. I already had LED tail lamps, and didn't use a resistor, but receive warnings about the tail lights being out. I went in with JScan and changed the voltage settings back to stock, and just turned off the diagnostic information for the rear turn signals instead.

The second I saw these I fell in love with them. But having gone through both active threads I’m gonna hold off a while to make sure all the bugs are out before buying Them. I have LED’s with the BSM system.

Question for you. I haven’t been through the whole thread and keep reading about how some don’t use the resistor but no one has said why? Why wouldn’t you use it?

The resistor is needed if your vehicle came with halogen factory tail lights and you don't want to change the LED setting with a programmer when you install the LED tail lights. LEDs have a much lower electrical demand than halogen, so the vehicle will think you have a bulb issue if you don't use the resistor with the LED units.

If you have a programmer, I think it's the better option to change the LED setting on the vehicle so the resistor isn't needed, but some of us don't have a programmer (or want to use one while under warranty).

So I have the factory LED’s. Shouldn’t even have to worry about it as there shouldn’t even be one there right?

What is flickering? Need more info. Can you send a video of what you are referring to to [email protected]?

You shouldn't need to reprogram or use the resistor that comes with the new Oracle lights, but I think I've seen a few posts where people who had factory LED are still having issues after changing to these Oracle tails. It may be due to the factory LED tail lights drawing a slightly different electrical load than the Oracles and the vehicle seeing that, but that's just guessing at this point.

Ok here you go. Some things I have read that I will address

- It was super easy to clip the plugs in.
- Fitment on the Oracles ended up better than factory
- I didn't have double sided tape on my resistors (Oracle QC issue) but I didn't need them
- You really gotta push the lights firm, the metal posts are tight fitting.
- Tighten most of the way and then push very firmly to tighten fully. May need to push top and bottom separately but it will go
- I could use some extra speed clips, I think I may have overtorqued one.
- Coming from halogen the resistors did work just fine, but my reverse lights didn't stay lit, they flashed.
- JScan fixed everything up when turning to LED with removal of resistor
- No nannybots to worry about, tape up that harness and the resistor harness
- I have no idea what y'all are talking about with the screw hitting and rubbing paint

Factory light gap, my punch tool fits inside the inner portion

These are the JScan items I set to 'active' and works fine with no resistor, no warnings, and the reverse lights stay lit.

Just took it out for a drive, and getting a warning that both turn signals are out.

From my understanding, if I already had LEDs in the rear, I didn’t need to use the resistors or change any settings in Tazer?
If you had LED tails prior & are getting a bulb out warning, you'll have to tell the ECU to stop checking for the factory tails using a programmer such as a Tazer or JSCAN.

I want to also take a second to point out here that this can happen with any aftermarket tail. This is not exclusive to just ORACLE lights. The systems responsible for sensing errors throughout the vehicle are proprietary to FCA.
