No adverse effects, it will likely make more power and require less, if any need to regear.
That was my train of thought. I'm running 37s on stock gears in a 21 JTRD currently, and I have the EOC Transmission Tune. I noticed zero difference going from 33s to 37s from a performance perspective. I'm about to add the Stage 1 Tune/Delete from EOC which in its base form adds 20hp/30tq.

I don't feel the need to regear currently, though when I slap a camper on the back of this thing I may reconsider haha.

just to confirm yours is diesel correct?
if so, 4.56 on 35s will be crazy, just be sure you watch your RPMs on the freeway, is the rig heavy?
Yes, it's a diesel. Not heavy at all, but it does get heavy when towing my camper which was my #1 reason for needing a regear.

Glad this got revisited with some folks,
I actually spoke with Nitro, they canned the 4.30 gears….. unfortunately….
In about 2-3 years I was planning to up size to 38's or 39's and figured 4.30's would be the sweet spot. I feel 4.56 would be a bit much like stated. I'll have to revisit this then.

I'm still on the stock 3.73 with 40's. If Nitro isn't going to do the 4.30 anymore, I suppose I'll jump to 4.56?

Many feels that it's not worth it going with 4.10 but imo that all you need for 37s. I believe there's one other person on here that also went with 4.10 and he's also happy with the result.
I have one on 37s with 4.10s it's prefect. My other one has 38s and 456s. Not so perfect. Hate going to 40s but that's probably what I'll end up doing.

I would've gone to 40s if the spare fits under the bed.

Well, depending on how dedicated you are to getting a 40 that is feasible. There are a few people who have rebuilt the rear frame section holding the tire to fit a 40.

Think Down2Mob just did it recently as well when he was swapping over to a camper.

If shifting too early is what you're not happy with, you can try tricking the system into thinking that it's on bigger tires. Maybe set it one size up (38.5-39). It will delay the shifts a little. Downsides are racking up more mileage and might see higher false mgp.

Shifting is fine it's the freeway rpms I don't care for.

i went to 4.10's when i added 35's. Brings the rpm range back to near stock w the taller tire, plenty of grunt, pulls the GeoPro 19' well, slightly higher rpm on highway, like maybe 200 or so. Wakes it up and runs better

Nitro no longer offering 4.56, entry point is now 4.63 and Nitro only offers 2 year warranty. Yukon has 4.56 with lifetime warranty

Yeah im not sure what the deal is! my rack is half height so mostly everything is out of the wind stream i just know its heavy, i can get 4 people to lift it off my jeep with all the accessories off of it and its a struggle.. last time i took it off I used a forklift! im running the HD EVO springs in the rear and after i took the rack off the jeep went up an inch and a half LOL i do see how some of the side accessories could be in the winded areas, i put it on cruse control this morning to work and i got 18.4 MPG in 16 miles, im even dosing the fuel! (Fuel additive) mostly for the crappy CP4 HPFP, im hoping if i gear a little differently i could get a little better mileage and performance back to stock-ish
Which rack do you have?

I ended up going with 4.56, I have 50 more miles until “break in” is complete,
It’s nice!
the RPM difference in 8th gear went from 1950ish to 2250 ish at 80-85mph

My MPG went up and down at the same time. Depending on what freeway speed I gained MPG once I hit 75 I decline from original MPG
At low speed city driving at 45-50 I gained MPG significantly 28-33 MPG average at 45-50MPH
I’m a little disappointed, I personally think it’s geared to high, there’s a large grade near us located in Camarillo here in California, on factory gears on 37s I could downshift 2-3 gears and have enough low end to pump up the hill even at 80MPH. Now, I have the low end torque, however I can only dump in 7th gear as opposed to 5th and now it hunts up the hill between 7th and 8th I can’t gain speed going up the hill anymore because 7th seems ….. like not enough torque it’s still to high I guess. 8th I lose speed and it downshifts into 7th kinda sucks just means I need to go slower I personally think 4.10s would have been perfect even with the amount of weight I have in the jeep
My question is why did AEV go with 4.56 on gas and diesel gladiators?

Not sure. Take a wild guess, probably because they regear everything, they’d rather have 4.56 than just leave it stock or discount the price to reflect it. 4.56 won’t hurt, might just be too tall. Hell, I still think 3.76 is just fine for 37’s, that is also the subjective part of this discussio.

What are the rpm's on the 38's w/ 456? Diesel or Gas? This is the meat and potatoes I'm looking for.
