that’s solid mileage. I’m getting similar on 37’s diesel doesnt seem to care what tires you have. Was similar in my ram.
My mileage went down with a 4" lift and 37's. From 22 around town to 18. Highway from 28 to 24. The only time I see 8th is when the speedometer is over 65 mph.

Yep, that's about the same for me. I'm 18-19 in town and 23-24 highway. I'm typically 70-80 highway. Obviously with wind it goes down.

I installed crate takeoff 4.10s from the gasser gears in mine. It's the same.
Did you see much difference going form 373 to 410? Would 456 have been better choice?

Thanks for the response! I think if i didn't have the rack it may be ok? really where i feel the drag and lack of gearing is when I'm fully loaded with camp gear, a slight incline it starts to hunt for gears, which makes me think it cant be to far off from where it needs to be?

that's great MPG with 37s! mine declined to 18ish on highway averaging 70 mph city driving is really good oddly, its 22-25 40MPH

do you have anything on the jeep when driving? any gear or added weight?
It's an 8 speed auto with 2 over drives. It's not hunting for gears it's driving as designed. It's trying to optimize power and efficiency for the demand. I think 4.10s would be perfect for a diesel on 37s, but I think you'll be disappointed when you realize it drives mostly the same. I tend to drive fast (85+ mph on roadtrips) so I lean toward the higher gearing even with the 3.6L.

37s on my 21 JTRD with factory gearing... I noticed absolutely zero difference going from 33s to 37s from a power standpoint. I'm also running an EOC transmission tune, which improved the transmission response insanely.

I'm averaging 12L/100KM (19.5mpg) since putting on 37s and that's mostly around town since mounting those. Pure highway I'm easily seeing 8-9l/100km (26-29mpg).

Glad this got revisited with some folks,
I actually spoke with Nitro, they canned the 4.30 gears….. unfortunately….

I ended up going with 4.56, I have 50 more miles until “break in” is complete,
It’s nice!
the RPM difference in 8th gear went from 1950ish to 2250 ish at 80-85mph

My MPG went up and down at the same time. Depending on what freeway speed I gained MPG once I hit 75 I decline from original MPG
At low speed city driving at 45-50 I gained MPG significantly 28-33 MPG average at 45-50MPH
I’m a little disappointed, I personally think it’s geared to high, there’s a large grade near us located in Camarillo here in California, on factory gears on 37s I could downshift 2-3 gears and have enough low end to pump up the hill even at 80MPH. Now, I have the low end torque, however I can only dump in 7th gear as opposed to 5th and now it hunts up the hill between 7th and 8th I can’t gain speed going up the hill anymore because 7th seems ….. like not enough torque it’s still to high I guess. 8th I lose speed and it downshifts into 7th kinda sucks just means I need to go slower I personally think 4.10s would have been perfect even with the amount of weight I have in the jeep

Hello everyone!

I'm in need of some assistance and insight from the fellow jeep community on gearing, there has been many different answers on this topic for the at least the 3.6. I used to have a gas 3.6 gladiator Rubicon on 37'S and ran 4.88 from a performance aspect it did great, i did lose some functionality in range and MPG as to be suspected. but was well worth it!,
Many people that i have seen on YouTube as well as local shops have recommend what seems to be odd, 2 very popular youtubers whos name i wont mention, one of which has 5.13 gears and the other said he sees no need to regear the EcoDiesel (Which from what I have experienced is silly) in addition a very popular shop here in California recommended 5.13's, 5.13 in my opinion is way to much at least for my use.... Diesels do not like high RPM 5.13 on the ecodiesel does not seem like a good idea, neither does 4.88.... hoping someone can shed some light on this or maybe provided some professional insight as top why I may be wrong there...

With that being said my primary use for the my jeep is the following,
travel out of the state, off-road, camping. hence why i bought the jeep LOL
-I want Functional MPG, pre lift and tires here in CA i could easily obtain a 23 MPG, after the lift and other items, I am at 18 MPG (Not terrible), which is almost close to the gas 3.6 i was getting 12/15MPG.
I take this vehicle out of the state on long trips and want to retain that ability and functionality of range, in addition occasionally driving 85MPH LOL.
- My wife and I are usually camping at least 2 weekends out of every month, sometimes less sometimes more! during these trips we usually hit some fun trails here in CA (Big Bear) and obviously want my lower range of gears.
-I also have no intention on trailering this jeep, i also have no intention to go 40's.... (Although it would be great!)

Build
I have a 2022 Jeep Gladiator Rubicon EcoDiesel, as many of us know comes factory with 3.73 gears.
it has been installed with the following
- 37x12.5x17" Nitto Trail grapplers
- 17" KMC Grenade crawl bead locks
- 4.5" Rock Krawler X Factor Lift
- Front/Rear Adams 1350 Driveshafts
- Factory steel bumpers
-Warn Winch
-Rebel Off-road Mid height bed rack (Has been fitted with goodies) Heavy. weight is not provided on site
-Roam 95L case (Packed) at least 100lbs

Gears
some of you may not know.... but Nitro gear is coming out with a 4.30 Gear set for the M210/M220 Jeep JL/JT its specifically made for the ecodiesel since they states "What you need is really between a 4.10 and 4.56"
i am heavily debating waiting longer for this gear to be released, i have been waiting and informed since October of 2022.
the gears i am debating in my mind are 4.10s 4.56, or continue to wait for the 4.30s my concern is 4.10 is not enough (Or is it?) is 4.56 to high? I want the ability to go 85 still... to some of you that may sound funny... but here in CA people drive fast.... very fast.... at least here in Ventura county not to mention leaving the state and all the open desert 85MPH is comfortable for me.

curious what you guys have done! any insight helps!

Not apples to apples but I hope this helps. I did a 7.3 powerstroke swap on a 94' Bronco after I had 1 ton Super Duty swapped it as well. The tons had 4.10s. We intended to start with 35s, and then go 4.56 with 37s. Then we drove it. Holy Torque Batman. 4.10s and 37s is perfect, 4.56s would be the max I'd set her up to for if we wanted to tow on the Reg. 4.88s and TC would be fighting for its life if you did anything but breath on the peddle. At least for a tuned 7.3. 4.10 or 4.56 is gonna be my recommendation man.

Many feels that it's not worth it going with 4.10 but imo that all you need for 37s. I believe there's one other person on here that also went with 4.10 and he's also happy with the result.

I picked up 4.56 DANA gears for my Rubicon running 35s. I do intend to upgrade to 37s once the 35s wear out and didn't want to regear twice. Reading all these posts is making me second guess my decision. ?

Here is what one of my local shops recommends for gearing on the Gladiator. They are also one of AMW4x4 partners as well and do their conversions for them here locally in TX.

just to confirm yours is diesel correct?
if so, 4.56 on 35s will be crazy, just be sure you watch your RPMs on the freeway, is the rig heavy?

I wonder how big of a difference having the diesel deleted would make on needing gearing.

No adverse effects, it will likely make more power and require less, if any need to regear.
