What if you’re on 52s? That’s not what the OP is asking about. He’s in a diesel on 37s. I promise you the diesel doesn’t care if he’s on 37s, he ain’t harming a thing.

OP, I think your rack is just acting like a parachute to be honest. My cruise control gets set to 74mph when I’m not stuck in SoCal traffic, and I drive like an Ahole. That being said, my heavy knobby Ironman mud terrains with steel bumper and winch are still getting me 21.5-22.5 average hand calculated mpg. I can get 23 if I try but it ain’t very fun.
Yeah im not sure what the deal is! my rack is half height so mostly everything is out of the wind stream i just know its heavy, i can get 4 people to lift it off my jeep with all the accessories off of it and its a struggle.. last time i took it off I used a forklift! im running the HD EVO springs in the rear and after i took the rack off the jeep went up an inch and a half LOL i do see how some of the side accessories could be in the winded areas, i put it on cruse control this morning to work and i got 18.4 MPG in 16 miles, im even dosing the fuel! (Fuel additive) mostly for the crappy CP4 HPFP, im hoping if i gear a little differently i could get a little better mileage and performance back to stock-ish

On my sport I went from 31.5s to rubicon take offs and noticed a difference. Couldn't imagine what 37s would feel like.

EcoD with 37’s. Go 4.56. JMO
AEV does the same.
My Gladiator weighs in around 6700lbs. I have 5.13 on 40’s (42’s next). I’ve got 27k miles in 15 months. I average 20mpg doing the speed limit. Many trips between OK and CA. If I keep the speed under 65 I can get up to 23/24.
My Wife drove the JT 600 miles following me in a U haul averaging 58mph. She got 28mpg through AZ and NM.
I do not think there is wrong decision.

I did remember calling these guys and seeing this on their site, i agree with the regearing, my only concern was go with the 4.10 wait for the 4.30s or go with 4.56 i still think 4.56 is to high for what im trying to achieve
I feel you. I would say with all the weight you're carrying 4.56 will work and then you could go to 38s if you ever wanted to

So I'm considering buying a 4.56 install kit here soon. Can anybody confirm the carrier break is something like 3.07 and down? Should just need the gears.

The Revolution kit I'm looking at is only listed up until 2020 but I'm pretty sure there's been no internal changes to the axles since. Anybody confirm?

I'm also not 100% that the, say, gasser JLR and diesel JTR are the same, so that's another point of uncertainty.

There is no case break on the M210/220. Gas/diesel JL/JTs are the same axle wise. The JT axleshafts themselves are thicker though.

Before you buy that stuff, consider you might not find anyone that you trust to install it. I won't install any parts in my shop that I don't supply as a matter of warranty and the way our state issues liability.

I installed crate takeoff 4.10s from the gasser gears in mine. It's the same.

After having a local shop do a couple vehicles for me it's time I learn to do it myself.

Thanks for the confirmation, folks. ?

Hello everyone!

I'm in need of some assistance and insight from the fellow jeep community on gearing, there has been many different answers on this topic for the at least the 3.6. I used to have a gas 3.6 gladiator Rubicon on 37'S and ran 4.88 from a performance aspect it did great, i did lose some functionality in range and MPG as to be suspected. but was well worth it!,
Many people that i have seen on YouTube as well as local shops have recommend what seems to be odd, 2 very popular youtubers whos name i wont mention, one of which has 5.13 gears and the other said he sees no need to regear the EcoDiesel (Which from what I have experienced is silly) in addition a very popular shop here in California recommended 5.13's, 5.13 in my opinion is way to much at least for my use.... Diesels do not like high RPM 5.13 on the ecodiesel does not seem like a good idea, neither does 4.88.... hoping someone can shed some light on this or maybe provided some professional insight as top why I may be wrong there...

With that being said my primary use for the my jeep is the following,
travel out of the state, off-road, camping. hence why i bought the jeep LOL
-I want Functional MPG, pre lift and tires here in CA i could easily obtain a 23 MPG, after the lift and other items, I am at 18 MPG (Not terrible), which is almost close to the gas 3.6 i was getting 12/15MPG.
I take this vehicle out of the state on long trips and want to retain that ability and functionality of range, in addition occasionally driving 85MPH LOL.
- My wife and I are usually camping at least 2 weekends out of every month, sometimes less sometimes more! during these trips we usually hit some fun trails here in CA (Big Bear) and obviously want my lower range of gears.
-I also have no intention on trailering this jeep, i also have no intention to go 40's.... (Although it would be great!)

Build
I have a 2022 Jeep Gladiator Rubicon EcoDiesel, as many of us know comes factory with 3.73 gears.
it has been installed with the following
- 37x12.5x17" Nitto Trail grapplers
- 17" KMC Grenade crawl bead locks
- 4.5" Rock Krawler X Factor Lift
- Front/Rear Adams 1350 Driveshafts
- Factory steel bumpers
-Warn Winch
-Rebel Off-road Mid height bed rack (Has been fitted with goodies) Heavy. weight is not provided on site
-Roam 95L case (Packed) at least 100lbs

Gears
some of you may not know.... but Nitro gear is coming out with a 4.30 Gear set for the M210/M220 Jeep JL/JT its specifically made for the ecodiesel since they states "What you need is really between a 4.10 and 4.56"
i am heavily debating waiting longer for this gear to be released, i have been waiting and informed since October of 2022.
the gears i am debating in my mind are 4.10s 4.56, or continue to wait for the 4.30s my concern is 4.10 is not enough (Or is it?) is 4.56 to high? I want the ability to go 85 still... to some of you that may sound funny... but here in CA people drive fast.... very fast.... at least here in Ventura county not to mention leaving the state and all the open desert 85MPH is comfortable for me.

curious what you guys have done! any insight helps!

Ok so here is what we've found and we have 4 ecodiesel jeeps 3 Jt's and 1 Jlru. My son put a 4.63 gear in his 22 Jtr it pulls his trailer better but still a little short on gear I put 4.88 in mine absolutely perfect still does 85 on the hiway get 23 to 23.5 mpg pulls better and don't get warm as it used to pulling up the hills in Co/Wy mine is 22Jtr 3.5 lift 37 Mickey Thompson's had the work done at local 4 wheel parts . Running stock gears in the the other 2 1 with 37's and one with stock my wife has the Jlru Tuscadero pink all stock ecodiesel she get 30 to 30.5? Never got that in my Jt's but did get 26 to 27 all stock Jtr

I'm a little confused with what you are asking... are you not happy with stock gears and 37's or are you just asking what other people have experienced or recommend based on professional experience where the grass is greener?

To be honest, I am perfectly content with stock gears and 37's with my eco-diesel. I still get 22-25mpg highway depending on grades and speed and 18-19 city driving. At highway speeds I'm between 1500-2000 RPM, which is right in the sweet spot for torque too.

4Lo still provides plenty of control and torque - I think going up any higher would make it almost unusable. The last time I was out I was going 8mph up a steep-ish hill in 5th gear with plenty of power.

I've seen others comments about the right gearing, but I don't think there would be an ROI that I would be content with.
This... although my mileage is more like 20-22... but mostly in town and short trip. But 37's and stock gears seem perfect to me.

I am on 35s on my sport and get about 21.5 MPG without much in it. It drops to about 18 when I go out camping. I took it on a trip down to the Phoenix area back in November right after I got the 35s and got 21 on the way there and got around 18 on the way back with headwinds. I lose quite a bit when I am hauling my trailer with gear. With my Leitner rack loaded, winch, and steel bumpers I have added a significant amount of weight. I am waiting to regear but I think I want lockers to go in the same time.

For anyone thinking of regearing an ecodiesel on 37”s, DO IT.

For a couple months I was hesitant about it and couldn’t find a concrete answer in the forums. Only found about 2-3 people who have actually done it and their suggestions. Most are people saying that they don’t need a regear with 37”s and how they can tow almost anything. Anyways I bought my jeep a couple months ago and Immediatly lifted it 2.5inch with Clayton lift kit, 37s, banks tuner and their pedal monster, half rack and cargo container, etc. I’m a 26yr old Guy that loves going fast and was dissatisfied with the Jeep’s performance. Once I added the banks tuner and pedal monster it got better, but was still left with the desire for more. I tow a flat bed (14ft)and some (2-3) quads to and from the off-road park, and the first time I towed with it lifted I was so dissatisfied I decided to regear it. Going up some hills you could feel the engine was working too much and was a struggling to pick up speed. Anyways I went with 4.56 Dana Spicers and have just finished the breaking process, all I can say is it’s a night and day difference. The truck performs way better, from 0-about 40 it pulls extremely hard. I would even dare to say it pulls harder than the 5.7hemi, 5.6 titan ,5.3 vortec. Again this is in gear 1-4, anything above that the hemi would obviously beat it. I am totally happy with it now and will be keeping it for sure, I was thinking of trade it in before even though it only had 3,000miles. Regearing was my Hail Mary to keep this truck and it worked. Again I know people on the forums say they “think “ It doesn’t need a regear with 37” but I believe it is totally according to your driving style and preference. I would highly recommend a regear to anyone with a lifted ecodiesel dreaming of a better performance. I just finished the breaking process so don’t know to much about my MPG yet, however before it was around 16 in town. This is with rack, cargo container, 37”, and truck bed full of Milwaukee tools ?. I noticed during breaking it went up to 20.something, however I was going easier on the pedal to not damage the new gears. Rpms are obviously higher but not to bad. Before going 65 (Cali) it was around 1500, and now at 65 it is around 1950. Just want to help out anyone who is think of regearing to get more performance, do yourself a favor and do it.

Mine getting 24-25 on either 39's or now 38 Trail Grapplers. Stock gears Icon beadlocks and 3.5" lift. I live at 5k' and do go up to Tahoe once in a while. Mostly Hwy with a little town driving..our towns in Carson Valley are not very big. I am in 8th mostly if I can do 65+mph when the traffic allows. 7th when it doesn't. I could see how in my case as its setup 4.10's would be better. Once I get it outfitted then I will address gearing...TBD weight and where I end up having a tent and topper..still thinking that one out. But 4.56 will be likely.

that’s solid mileage. I’m getting similar on 37’s diesel doesnt seem to care what tires you have. Was similar in my ram.
