If MPG is a big concern, you are shopping for the wrong truck.
Lol, not necessarily a concern, just something I noticed while researching the two on the forum.

The Mojave is taller by an inch or so in the front ... Also has a wider stance I think ... In any event little changes affect mileage ... Im sure that Mojave is a bit lower ...

But it is not 21/27 on either Mojave or Rubicon unless it is a diesel ...

21 is something I only saw once on a LONG LONG trip. And 27 is a pipedream ... Unless you start measuring at the top of a mountain and stop when you get to the bottom ...

Not gonna happen ...

May get 20+ on the other trims like overland with 31 inch highway tires fully inflated and driven conservatively ...

Mojave and Rubicon will be identical, gas to gas. The numbers for the Rubicon you're seeing are the 3.0 diesel numbers. And while there's a thread for it, best I can tell the Rubicon will be more capable rock crawling and the Mojave (which I have) will be better for daily driving and weekend wheeling...just my .02

About to pull up the trigger on a Mojave, but for some reason I've been coming across more favorable MPG number from people with Rubicons...?
I take others MPG claims with a grain of salt. It all depends on where you drive, how you drive etc... I have a zig zag somewhat hilly 30 mile round trip to work and back on country roads. My Sport S was maybe 1-2 MPG better than the Mojave. Can't see the Rubi being any better unless you get a diesel. But unless you are towing you can buy a lot of gas for $4000.00. Just my .02 cents...

That's the damn truth. This is the first Jeep I've been able to keep in the teens for gas mileage.

AMEN brother every jeep I have owned was not built for MPG

And for real-world testing, back in the beginning of November I took off our RTT and traction boards.

Negligible effect on MPGs. I'm thinking at the most it's .3-.4 MPG increase w/o the weight & wind resistance.

This vehicle isn't for the MPG conscious.

Lol- There is no way the pentastar is getting 27 mpg hwy with 4:10 gears. That is sneaky advertising. I don’t get anywhere close to that with 3:73’s.

I've dropped a full 2 mpg since it started getting colder. I guess it's the winter blend and the temperatures as well. I am now down to 18.5 highway, 15 city. Gas mileage between the two trims should be the same. Same tires, same gas engine, same transmissions, same final drive ratios, similar weights, same brick-like shape. I'm on 35s, but mileage with the stock 33" MTs vs my current 35" ATs is pretty close to identical. If you do the math, a mile or 2 per gallon won't make much difference in your wallet anyway. Get the truck you want.

I think you will find that the Rubicon, unless it is a diesel will give you equal MPG.

My Rubicon from new got 26-29 MPG with the diesel. Built it up for Overlanding and it's gone down. Once you lift it, it creates more drag affecting MPG, put on bigger tires-yep MPG goes down, load it with a roof top tent, topper, fridge and gear-yep MPG goes down more.

Buy the one you want based on what you want to do. They are basically the same price. The Mohave is more suited for flat deserts and driving fast, the Rubicon, especially with the grunt of the diesel that gives 180 more lbft of torque will kick the Mohave's butt in Moab or other moderate to difficult trails in other areas.

If you an overlander, either will do well for you.

This past week I went on a 3 day 257 mile overland trip with three over JTR's, and 5 JLURs. I was the only diesel and my MPG off road with a full load was about 6 MPG better than all the rest running 3.6 engines.

If the Mohave would have had a diesel, I would have ordered that last year.

This was a mostly hwy trip. 70 miles averaging about 45 mph with a maximum of 58 mph. 29.5 MPG

Stock Sport Trim with manual transmission.

I get around 25 MPG around town. Can't complain.

Manual tranny a bit more fuel efficient perhaps?

That seems really high, even for a highway MT. But then, I'm in a Rubicon with bigger tires. Stock, I got 22 highway. Now, with spacer lift and 35s, about 21 highway.

Averaged 20mpg on my latest trip, that’s better than my Toyota 4Runne.
