I've seen this happen to several JLs also. And my wife's KL got a recall last winter due to a possible fire situation. Had something to do with the fuel system. Makes me wonder what's going on with Jeep these days. Also makes me leery to park in the garage at home.

They must have forgotten my extinguisher on my Rubi, or I haven't found it yet. hmmm?
It's not standard. But should be bought aftermarket. Specially if doing any kind of offroadin .

Though I agree a fire extinguisher is a great thing to have but you really shouldn't need one for a brand new truck.
You shouldn't need a factory driveshaft to be replaced with a non-defective one on a brand new truck either, nor major problems with the electricals, but you never know, ... and recalls happen.

Best to err on the side of caution, as the cost of a quality extinguisher is much cheaper than the hassle of replacing a burned out truck.

Also good to have one in case you need to help someone else w/ a vehicle fire, campfire escape, etc.

That's more likely going to be the use of mine. Saw some hillbillys trying to weld with their starter cables at Jeep Camp. (no, not really, but it was smoking and sounded like a welder, didn't need the extinguisher, but glad it was near).

You havent really been off road until you have rigged a battery welder for an axle repair. Inseries battery hookup with some stick weld rods - It does take skill.

So, this fire got me thinking. Could you imagine if this truck had a 3k suspension, 2k Rack, 2k tent, 1k fridge, drawers etc ! Im pretty sure all that stuff is not covered by your insurance unless you were able to add it somehow. Im gonna have a little talk with Geico and see if it is possible to get this kinda stuff insured on the vehicle. It would suck to lose your truck and then lose 10k in aftermarket upgrades because it isnt covered.

I'm going to spitball and guess something wrong with the power to the winch
I've seen two other similar fires in my lifetime - both were due to "improper" electrical installations of aftermarket components.

But I agree, no use panicking just yet :)
Although I do have a fire extinguisher mounted in the bed, just in case.

Sad incident and grateful no one was injured...

Definitely looks like an electrical fire, not fuel related....

Several JK's and JL's have had similar situations...

We would be speculating on what was the cause at this time...
It could be related to actual Jeep issues or aftermarket items..

The last JK I know of that caught on fire out of the blue was related to add on items...
Improper fusing and incorrect relay..

The warning to pull over is interesting...
I've had car's go into Limp Mode and say drive immediately to the dealership..

Another pic. I guess Chrysler is trying to do some damage control. The original Instagram post was taken down.

Bizarre the front tires didn't burn! Fire Dept must have got there quick to cool it down
