Having an issue with my Gladiator Mojave today

Hi - I went to start my Jeep Gladiator Mojave today and it wouldn't start.
A little red dot was lite in the bottom left corner of the dash and the traction control flashed as an issue for a second as did the stop/start flashed as an issue. (* note - I put in the Z Automotive in a couple of years ago)
at one point the traction control and stop/start stayed lit on my dash until I turned it off and and then managed to start it. I have been able to use it a few times since but sometimes it's a slow start or I get some lights on the dash after I start it.

The auxiliary battery was replaced a little over a year ago.
The main battery was replaced 2 years ago.
I had Autozone test the main battery today as well as the starter and alternator and all good.

Any ideas what this could be before I leave it with my semi competent dealership ?

Odd dash light behaviour + slow start = battery voltage supply problem.

Not sure exactly what kind of test your Autozone performed, but each battery needs to be properly and separately load tested. If they both pass a load test, then look for poor battery cable connections.

FWIW, I'd take the FLAPS alternator test with a grain of salt. I doubt they're set up to properly test the smart charging system found in the JT.

Post a pic of the lights you're getting, there's plenty of them and they can lead to different things, especially with a Tazer. Could be battery related, could be Tazer related. Post pics

Problem is getting to the AUX battery to test is not easy

But not using the tazer. It Is the Z automotive rear differential bypass component. The Z locker. I out in 2 years ago.
also… the two lights you see in that pic went out next time I started the vehicle. B

Idk about the AZ test not working, I just pulled the negative from the main battery and hooked the aux battery negative to their tester with the positive still on the main battery (effectively testing the aux battery) and it failed the test like I knew it would.

I don't have the "(A)!" light yet, but my voltage before the first start of the day has been about 12.0v lately, down from 12.6 when I got it 6 months ago. When the alternator is charging, I see about 13.4-14.1v since the aux battery has been dying, down from 14.6v+ 6 months ago.

I probably did the test wrong, but it gave the expected results after a jump was needed to start when the main terminal read 3.4v for both batteries.

I had O'Reilly check the alternator output on my JL and later at a dealer. O'Reilly's data matched the dealership, so at least that store had good equipment. (Alternator was fine, btw)

It takes time for them to adapt equipment to new tech, but the Pentastars PUG has been out since at least 2016 and I'm sure it wasn't the first with the more sophisticated charging system. Those stores should all have better equipment by now.

Even with a good test return there could still be an issue with a battery. Twice I went to Autozone last year and had them test aux batteries, one on our GC Trailhawk, the other on our JT (not at the same time of year). I was told batteries were good, but I still had the issues. Turned out they were not good. Replacing them solved the idiotic stop/start feature failure and the non-starting. Neither issue has returned since replacing the batteries. May or may not be your issue. Good luck.

In my experience you will get all kinds of warning lights when you have battery issues. Sensors aren't getting proper voltage so you get all kinds of false warnings. Last time my wipers started working and wouldn't turn off. New battery and they go away.

I would guess that your aux batt is dragging your main down.

You are at the start over place.

Charge the aux, charge the main, reset the ibs. Check the both batteries after charging. If you are sure that the Main is good, you can isolate the Aux battery by leaving the Aux negative off and insulated, then pull f42. You should be able to start if you didn’t smoke the fuse array.

I believe most of us here [definitely me] will replace both batteries at once. Hope it's an easy fix, the idiot lights turn me into a raving idiot..

Yep. Standard procedure at dealerships is that if one battery goes, you replace them both.

The only time I deviate from that is if the big battery is a pure-lead high performance AGM (Like an Odyssey, Northstar, or Optima) and it is less than 5 years old. But I would replace a regular battery or ¨regluar¨ AGM battery at the same time.

My personal new procedure is to get a cheap regular battery with the aux battery and replace them both every 3 years, whether they seem to need it or not. I just look for a sale or buy at Rural King.

My apologies to all who tried to help me. I ended up replacing both batteries even though they were both only about a year or so old.
maybe the Florida heat took its toll. I don’t know.
Everything is working fine again so far and I appreciate all of you.
