If you're in the market for a 2023 Gladiator, head over to a dealership in late December and make the deal of your life.
When mine was ordered it was a 2021, then I got a call saying it would be a 2022 and there would be no price change, I was happy! They really just wanted things to move once December was around.

There is probably also a couple thousand 2023's sitting at the Toledo Plant distribution yard that had not been delivered yet due to the strike that have to funnel through that will add to that inventory.
Yep... and built by disgruntled (at the time) UAW auto workers who were about to strike. Not sure I'd want one of those.

Jeep enthusiasts kept asking for a pickup and FCA gave us the Gladiator. It isn't what we wanted. We wanted a two door, cab and a half with the perfect wheel base for offroading. They couldn't even make a new rear door that was square and reused the wrangler rear door. There are dozens of articles about how Gladiator sales are horrific. Add to the fact that Jeep has priced itself out of the mid-size truck market. A fully loaded Rubicon is close to $70k. Take a look at real trucks you can buy for that. Yes, you can't take the top and doors off of those but I rarely, if ever, see a Gladiator topless. Which, btw, it looks like ass with the soft top "down".

With all of that said, I'm in the market for a new Gladiator. With the current prices slashed, I feed bad for anyone trying to sell a used JT. If I don't end up with a new JT, I'll be looking at the '24 Tacoma or a Silverado Trail Boss.

2024 will likely be the last year for the Gladiator and in a few years, Jeepers will bitch again because there isn't a Jeep Truck. Maybe they should remake the J10 built on the RAM platform with a HEMI.

The Gladiator is staying until at least 2028.

They've already confirmed a gladiator 4xe added in 2025 and a fully electric in 2028, so I'm guessing it isn't even close to the last year of the gladiator. I wouldn't have paid the $65k msrp for my 2023 mojave, but with dealers offering 20% off I picked it up 2 weeks ago. If you're trying to sell a used one you're screwed, but according to kbb mine still work more trade-in than I paid for it.

Sounds like you are better off getting something besides a Gladiator if doing truck things is your primary concern.

The nipple rubbing for a two door Gladiator is pie in the sky dreaming. Beyond a first year sales rush to appease the niche wanting it, would be a sales flop in later years like the 1980s Scrambler was.

The Gladiator is like any other vehicle design and marketed for that middle 60% base of buyers. People on that 40% margins split on both ends will never be happy regardless.

GoodCarBadCar had a typo saying the Gladiator was available in 2-door and 4-door versions. I'm like, WHAT?! When did I miss this?

This past June I bought my first vehicle with only 2 doors. They've all been 4. The utility of 4 doors is unbeatable. That's why it'll be rare if there's ever a 2-dr Gladiator.

Jeep gave "the people" exactly what they wanted. A Wrangler with a bed.

Most of the glorious aftermarket support we have today is because Jeep took the Wrangler to 4 doors starting with the JK.

A Jeep was a niche vehicle.
It survived in that niche
because it was unique.

The market for four door pickups
midsize or full size
is a crowded market.
It's like trying to dance in a buffalo herd.

Stellantis stepped outside the niche
to try and appeal to more buyers.

Maybe economies of scale
prohibit niche products
with small production levels.
But I think Stellantis may have made a mistake.

Once all the Starbucks buyers
have scratched their itch
who will want one?

The two door pickup on a JL frame
is what I thought they would build.

Stay unique.
Respect your niche.
Don't be greedy.

The solid axle mid-sized truck market that can run the Rubicon trail, comfortably haul a family of 4, and still do light duty truck stuff/ towing/ etc is....still a 1 vehicle niche last I checked? The 2 door wrangler is like 10% of total sales. Everyone thinks they want one until they buy the 4 door.

The 2 door pickup is no longer in demand. Once the usefulness of the extended cab and four door pickup was discovered, that's all most people wanted. Market research is thorough and ongoing. If Stellantis could make a profit selling two door Jeep pickups, they would already be rolling off the assembly line.

I see offers of around $31k for mine which had a sticker of $48k and we paid like $42k for. It is a 2020 though.

There are PLENTY of people who would prefer a 2-door single/extended cab Gladiator over the 4-door full double-cab (myself being one) but you’re right, 4-door pickups are more popular. If Jeep/Stellantis is only willing to risk doing one version of it, it had to be the 4-door.

This is the same reason manual transmissions are disappearing from most vehicles. It’s not because there aren’t plenty of people who want them, it’s because it’s cheaper/more profitable for the manufacturer to simplify the manufacturing by only offer the most popular option.
