Yeah, the news likes to blow up California as the crazy citizens, crime ridden, drug addict state.
I moved here in 1981. The weather is AMAZING. The crime in cities is too much for my taste but crime in all cities is too much for my taste.
The politics is a little left for my taste but really has minimal impact on my day to day life.
Would I leave? I don’t think so. Bad things can happen to a person no matter where you live. You have to try to live and visit where the odds are in your favor (if possible).

A massive exaggeration from someone who doesn't even appear to live there...
Been there several times through the years each time it gets worse. I got an Uncle and Aunt and His son , 3 other cousins and my Aunt who lives near me in WV lived there for 15yrs. And she wouldn't ever dream of going back there either. Yes, I dont live there ,why would I ever want to do that.

California is a big state. You are basing your opinion on a small piece of it.

This:
https://ravelco.com/
claims to be able to keep a vehicle from being started.

Back in college / grad school I worked part time at a gas station, where I learned to drive a tow truck towing vehicles in for repair as well as illegally parked vehicles to the impound lot. Not being able to start a vehicle does nothing to prevent someone with tow truck from taking a vehicle.
I have this iny Raptor, and the race team I work with has it in all their trucks. My Raptor was broken into, no forced entry, and my dash was torn apart. I was lucky to have the Revelco because that truck would have been long gone. A buddy of mine has a TRX, and his got stollen out of valet parking in DTLA. He found it in 30 minutes in an underground garage, but he didn't have the Revelco.

You don’t really think Keyfobs make it easier than a turning key, right? Cars were stolen in seconds decades before the first keyless ignition.
Was this trick with a replacement key as big a problem for the Sentry Key (SKIM)-era Chryslers, though?

The SKIM module in my WJ is a little more difficult to bypass (the PCM needs to be reflashed to ignore it), and you need the VIN-specific SKIM PIN from Chrysler to program a new key's RFID signature.

WJ PCM will kill the engine after 1-2 seconds without ongoing SKIM authorization.

I live in the burbs…but far from any big city and farmland in my back yard. I feel lucky as we don’t hear too much about ā€˜serious organized & intelligent criminals’.

Around here…… It’s mostly quick grabs and porch pirates. If you park in front of your house in the driveway - you’d better LOCK IT (And don’t leave anything valuable inside). They go around checking for unlocked doors….. šŸ™„

This makes me think of the Glitter bombs… šŸ˜‚
If I was to do something like that glitter bomb thing I'd be tempted to swap the farther spray for hydroflorin acid. The types of people I have no use for is a thief and liar anyone who one is the other. I have to admit I agree with some of the tenets of Islam. Especially when it comes to thieves and criminals.

hello all

two days ago I was extremely fortunate to be out walking my new puppy when I saw my Jeep pass by down the street between two buildings.
fortunately it's such a bright color and so highly modified it that I recognized it out of my peripheral vision and looked up and managed to verify not only that it was in fact Nacho.Diesel but I also observed the driver and another vehicle closely following it. I immediately called 911, the officers arrived in just a few minutes and in working with some federal agencies and the power of social media, the Jeep was located and seized from the thieves just as it was entering Mexico approximately 40 minutes later.
Sorry for you having to deal with this S### I hope it works out on repairs along with you getting back to your place out of having to deal with that crap.
Most of the people who live around my area have a checkerboard past. But at least most of them leave the old SOB former L.E.O and A.D. infantry combat veteran alone. Might be I'm always packing open carry and regularly shooting in my yard. Occasionally with a two stamp setup. ;)
Unfortunately I can't safely go shooting my "Get off my lawn" Garand.... 30.06 travels to far, and 45 ACP doesn't like to not bounce around wildly.

San Diego is amazing.
I've not been there but a few places I've been in CA. we're OK with my limited time at them. Hunter Liggit, Ft. Irwin and few other places kinda sucked. San Francisco wasn't to bad in the area I was in but that was around 15 years ago too.
My unit was doing security at Chicago Port, a part of it was keeping the copper thieves out among other security task. We got a crash course on what the copper thieves use for stripping the wire out of buildings. Any electricians would s### bricks to know how they do that. Where I worked last wouldn't listen to anyone who knew about that.

Unless the tazer is in an armored location, simply removing the tazer kills that.
