I'd love to see Tesla create a Wrangler competitor.
I hope they make this with about 400 mile range.
Imagine a Gladiator with a 'frunk'? I'm in!
On the solar comments, think about if you were camping and were able to connect a whole bunch up for a few days while you were biking/fishing/hiking/etc, as long as you get a few miles to get back, you're good.

On another note, as much as I love driving a manual, I kind of want to get an electric truck at some point. I'll still 'save the manuals' as much as I can.

Nice sci Fi flick...

I'm still waiting for the flying cars the Jetsons promised me.

Not sure if I want autonomous off road capability unless we lived in a post apocalyptic world

Can someone help me understand exactly what the appeal would be to have a Jeep that drives down the trail without you? Is it so you can mount a camera on the dash & ‘virtually’ go 4-wheeling or such? 😕

If you could get some decent solar panels on the roof/ bed rack that would charge the platform batteries it would help out on the range aspect as it would be constantly charging, there are some decent systems out there that could work. Basically stop for lunch for an hour, and get a recharge (albeit slight) but make it more feasible to own a fully E JT.

IMHO
that wouldn’t make a significant impact at all

Would think there would be some aftermarket company that might chase that up and develop some sort of unit that could fold up in your bed and then you could stop and deploy it to give yourself a boost. Likely wouldn't be cheap though
Make a solar tonneau cover.

Just something to think about, All the government rebates are really just your fellow citizens helping you buy a vehicle.Nice work if you can get it

Until we commercialize them TicTac Technology, you know, defy laws of physics, electro is next, and will dominate. And until penty more people pay taxes as a civic duty like they ought to do, rebates and incentives galore. If you don't believe it, you've still got dial up. And it will fail if they attach a single vehicle's function to the intertube. That thing is like the old Christmas lights that all went out when one did. Kids these days.

I always interpreted the incentives as being for the manufacturer, not the individual. It means that they can recover their investment costs quicker (or at all) by charging more for the vehicle, but the consumers aren't punished. So yeah, individual people are benefiting, but - would they have bought the vehicle at that price otherwise? Ultimately the government is writing the check to the manufacturer, not you or me.

Government is getting it's money back... we all pay taxes on these vehicles and if they cost more you pay more taxes!

The government's money comes from the taxpayers. The Electric Vehicle purchaser gets a reduction of the taxes they should be paying in. This loss has to be made up by the other taxpayers. The government is using taxpayer money to prop up an industry that would likely fail otherwise. Our country is in serious trouble because the government spends more money than it takes in, and has been doing so for decades. That shortfall is made up with loans that they currently have no way to repay.
