I'm thinking @John Charles didn't like what he read and won't respond, but only check in to see how much more we aren't behind his assessment.

I'm not behind what he's suggesting about the fire, either. Battery still glowing? Right. If one of these batteries by some miracle burst info flame, only the case would melt/burn and would easily be put out by a fire extinguisher. There's nothing different inside to glow - lead won't glow, it melts, the sulfuric acid would be gone, there's little left to even call it a battery, let alone generate any electrical energy once they are a melted pile of mush.
I missed that part of the original post before otherwise I'd have smelled fish earlier on.
Now if he replaced his lead acid AGM battery or batteries with lithium batteries, then all bets are off and Jeep won't have much to worry about.
A sitting battery is no risk at all. Not by itself.

Check your inbox.
insurance overpaid you for those pieces of plastic lol (and I say that owning the same overpriced pieces of plastic)
well, I overpaid for them to begin with, so... ;)

The only pair I really miss were the Inmates. Same glasses Denzel wore in Book of Eli. Only out for a couple of years, and when they were stolen, they were already off the market.

I've since moved on from Oakley. Magpul & Randolph.

So I agree with the general theme of what has been said here, especially the premise that the OP didn’t find the exact level of commiseration he had hoped for and has thus left.

I would like to offer a thought for those that are “concerned” about insurance covering your added equipment. I cannot speak to other insurance companies but I have had State Farm for over 30 years and I can share what my agent told me. I have invested $40k above the original purchase (which I do own outright) into my build and wanted to understand what they actually would cover and truly what my liability/risk is. My agent said that if I provided a receipt and a picture of it actually installed on the vehicle, that I would be reimbursed above what they settle the vehicle for. I ran her through the wringer with questions about my fault, uninsured motorist, fire, flood, accident, et al and she maintained that I would be reimbursed for anything that I could provide a receipt and installed picture for. The only thing she said I couldn’t get reimbursement for is MY labor. So I could recoup the labor on my lift install because I have a receipt for a 3rd party install but not for the winch install labor as I did that.

I can’t say that any of this is real as I haven’t had to make that claim and hope I never do, but she assured me that it was that simple. I even offered to provide all the information that day just to have it on file and she said it wasn’t necessary.

So for anyone with State Farm and in AZ, you might want to talk to your agent and see if you are covered similarly.

what my agent told me.

That in itself can still be an issue. Especially when someone far away corporate is approving the final payout. However, I did have a truck stolen a long time ago. It had some added accessories, and I had all the receipts for them, and after the payout amount on the truck was final, they added the exact cost shown o all the receipts. it was well before cell phones and social media was around to have pics. Back then, guys didn't run out and take Polaroids of the new hitch and bed rails.

That is where actually having a real live person agent and having dealings with at a somewhat personal level can help out. They are more apt to go above and beyond to help out vs. only ever dealing with ones insurance online only and you just have the next agent in India inline on the phone to plea your case hoping for the best.

And people wonder why I have stuck with my agent and company I went with back in 1982. Moved across the state, hours away, and stuck with him. Local agents and companies, even friends, were like "why do you still do business with him, he's way up there". My response is because we get prompt personal attention. I send a text, email or call, and I get a call back. I ask about some form or needing a change and in minutes we have the form via email, and he calls explaining what to do. And he contacts headquarters if he's not heard anything from them that week after he submits our completed form. He's even had stuff back-dated when it was a company delay due to lack of staff during covid.
Their adjusters are mostly local to us. You get to meet, see, talk to them. they are real people.
Maybe I could get something cheaper - especially with those "save when you switch" deals, but I'm not ready to give up the personal attention we get. (one must also once in a while question why something is less expensive - read the fine print, look at deductibles, look at exclusions)

This is precisely why I'm with the same State Farm agent I've been with for years, and he inherited my file from the previous who suddenly passed away.

Have you ever had to file a serious (LOSS) claim? More than just questions?

If you mean like a totaled vehicle or other such damage, yes.
I wrapped our new WJ around a power pole years ago on an icy road (was going too fast in all probability) They not only beat my numbers but added extra for the extreme condition of the vehicle and the accessories I had it loaded with.
Also had a claim when a long grain auger I was pulling into place with a tractor hit a hole or dip in the ground on one side and it was elevated high enough it went off-center and tipped into a grain bin, crushing part of the roof and the top ring.
Both were covered without discussion.
There's probably others I can't think of over that many years. Very responsive, always paid promptly and on the top end of numbers.
oh, yeah - the car fire in about 1985, paid the full amount of repairs.

Good to hear that they’re treating you well but I recently dropped my long time insurance(state farm) after they raised my rates to absurd levels. No accidents or tickets in decades, but I guess they need to blanket raise everyone’s rates to cover all the losses out west.

Rates depend a great deal on where you live as well as other factors. Likely auto thefts are a big deal there.

There are so many responses. This may have been covered already.

Shouldnt I be paid for at least the $71k I paid to the dealership?
Nope.

depreciciation is something that takes place when the owner decides on their own to sell or trade.
Nope. Depreciation starts the instant your tires leave the dealership lot after you’ve signed the paperwork. That’s when the InService date is set. That's why your salesman is so antsy to get you burnin' fuel and rollin' rubber after you leave the finance office.

Jeep should at least honor as a lemon law.
Many states have a lemon law. It’s not up to the manufacturer to “honor” the lemon law so much as it’s up to the dealership and owner to properly document the problem(s) over the course of time and - if repairs fail to remedy the issue - to lemon law the vehicle. Usually, this is a recurring issue that is not fixable over the course of many months.

There is ONE thing that you sort of glossed over that could be very, very, very important. You said:

I cannot get a new jeep with factory lift and oversize wheels which I purchased my Jeep with. so I should take a $23k loss?
That little sentence fragment - “which I purchased my Jeep with” - is pretty important.

Did the DEALERSHIP install the lift, wheels, tires, and (this is the important part) lights? Because if they did, then they could be liable for the fire. That could increase your payout from the insurance company - Allstate would have to go after the dealership for wiring the lights incorrectly.

Pull out your purchase paperwork and look it over. In most states there’s a Due Bill required for any aftermarket accessories that were installed or promised - and if it lists electrical changes (the lights being installed) then you’ve got a case to get more money from the fire.

As an aside: if YOU WERE NOT THE ONE WHO INSTALLED THE ELECTRICAL (if you had someone else install it) then whoever did the changes could be liable for the damage. You could get a settlement from those guys as well.

Right now, it’s not going to be about Allstate, lemon laws, imagined rights, or any of that other stuff. It’s going to be about paperwork.

Good luck.
