Took the wifes' Wrangler up to the dealer yesterday because she's got the corrosion issue, so it can be dealt with. Lady at the body / paint shop who checked in her car warned me to check my Gladiator as well. Did the "slide your finger along the edge of the hood" feeling for any bumpiness or the like and...

Yep, both sides, felt like pretty decent size sections, so the wife called up to the dealer about getting mine in once hers is done.

And dang it, now I'm going to need to get my hood decals and put them on AGAIN (although I might run without decals for a while.)

Make sure they do new panels and do the TSB with the zinch shim. My dealer painted the whole panel, cleared it then installed shim and hinge. No way for them to make contact now. Jeep f’d up by bolting hinges on then painting over the whole assembly. Probably to save money, who knows.

This is the way.
They should make our panels out of stainless steel and be done with it.

My 21 JTR corroded under the 3M.
All they need to do is correctly prep everything before paint - and assemble the hinges after the aluminum parts are painted. Any kid who made a clock out of a potato could have told them this would be a problem.

I just got word my repair has been approved - new hood, three new doors and a new tailgate. The fourth door isn't covered because the rust isn't on the outside of the panel where it's visible, so I will have to eat that one myself down the road.
They are waiting on parts and for the six trucks in line ahead of me to be done.

If Jeep installs the zinc shim between unpainted surfaces, they are still f'ing us over. It is a sacrificial anode and will eventually corrode away, but it will be after the corrosion warranty expires.

My doors are okay so far, I think. They have the zinc shim. The edge of my hood has a small spot of corrosion that I have to deal with, though. Not happy.

When I took my 21 in for the corrosion, dealership took pics then had me take it to their body shop across town to have them assess it. The front guy came out and saw the bubbling around the hinges and said it’s seen all the time and explained the lack of gaskets at the hinges but then when I pointed out the bubbling on the edges of the hood, he couldn’t explain it.

My hood was fully wrapped with 3M. All that got ripped off and they did their repair and replacing the 3M was on me.

3 months later, the corrosion came back on the hood. Dealership and body shop fought it out and they replaced the hood and covered the cost of the 3M.

So what prep is skipped on the aluminum when gaskets don’t matter?

Do they still do the 2025's the same way during production?

My local dealer said they are using a teflon barrier when they reassemble the doors, he didn't mention anything about zinc.

I also have corrosion on the hood edges, the best I can figure is it's right where two people would lift and handle the body part if it was off the car. You can almost see the hand print in a couple spots in how the corrosion started - I bet dollars to pesos that it's poor paint prep at the factory that left skin oils on the panel.

TSB. Hopefully the shim doesn’t corrode as they painted and cleared the hood so it no longer touches any bare aluminum.

Had all of mine done on my dime, out of warranty but I worked for a dealer with a body shop. They painted the doors with the hinges off, painted the back of the new hinges then put it all together for the clear. Hopefully it doesn’t come back

Sweetums, when I had my corrosion done by Jeep, I asked what if it comes back? They gave me a lifetime warranty to cover anything new and to also cover the work they just preformed. I would ask…. Good luck.
