Not sure where to post this, but seeing as how this page deals with oil and oil changes:
I just learned about "clear flood mode" option to use on vehicles that have the oil filter mounted sideways or upside down. It allows the engine to crank, priming the filter, without the added pressure on the crankshaft bearings due to full start and cumbustion. Does anyone know if our engines have that option? Not sure I want to floor the petal and try it only to over-rev the engine!
I've always primed the oil filters on my other vehicles, and it's always bugged me that I can't do it on the Jeep.

It's true! That's why extra capacity (bypass filters and/or deep oil pans are nice. They help extend the interval. And just think, my 2015 Ram EcoDiesel from the factory had a 10.5-quart capacity. After adding the AFE deep pan, I now have a 12-quart capacity.

Unfortunately, it does not stop it from starting on the Eco diesel. Because of the high-pressure mechanical fuel pump, if you cut the lift pump from working , you would damage the high-pressure pump . If you were to floor it, the computer prevents it from revving up since it’s throttle by wire.

Attaching my latest analysis for future comparison. This was using the Quaker State Euro oil and right after installing the Green Diesel Engineering tune.
Switched to the Mobil 1 on this change, so will report back in another 5,000 miles.
Forgot to mention; I sent the same sample to Blackstone to see if the differences mattered.
Still waiting on thoses results...

As promised, here are the results from Blackstone.
It's interesting that they are concerned with 12ppm on the aluminum when it seems most folks here consider that OK with these engines. They were pretty close with the Oil Analyzers numbers until they got to the additive metals....

So about 5PPM for a 1000 miles on iron. Wow the new tune from GDE kept aluminum low. This is good to see.

With black stone it will show 19-20PPM iron im going to guess.

With Amsoil MS this would have been in the low teens in iron.

Advance Auto Parts is having a sale on Valvoline heavy duty 5w-40 for $20.99 gal. I just snatched up 7 jugs for 3 oil changes.

Some improvements. Hard to know which was doing more heavy lifting, the GDE tune or the oil, but based on what I've read over on the Ram forums (and here- I can't remember what I've read where but it's been a lot) I think it's more likely the oil is the bigger contributor to the improvements. Usually you wouldn't change two things at once but I didn't like how this was going. There's a gap between the third and forth report where I made the changes and did a shorter interval oil run and didn't send the results off. So these results are all fully on their labeled tunes and oil. No transition period.

Thanks for posting up! Add 20% to this number as Crapstone is off due to non ISO testing and calibration. They want to make max money and not focus on pesky costly and time consuming calibration.

The right tune can lower aluminum. That has been shown to be related to the post combustion fueling to keep the heat up in the DPF and SCR systems. Looks like GDE has done some changes to improve this and I heard they might be doing more and release updates.

The iron though 33ppm or 40ppm corrected. Still a little high and you have Amsoil MS so it should be better. You need to use a another lab so we can see true fuel dilution. Is the Iron wear from what?? We don't know with crapstone.

Yup, around 20% off with Blackstone on some of the numbers. Also, Blackstone doesn’t even show you the fuel delusion. So yes, Crapstone

Coming from a line of BMWs I naturally gravitated towards the Liqui Moly Leichtlauf High Tech 5W-40 listed on the first page, however their website states;

"For gasoline and diesel vehicles without particulate filters (GPF/DPF)."
