So I'm coming up to my first 5,000 since I purchased my '23 Rubi 6 cyl. The Jeep dealership did an oil change when I purchased it. I'm 700ish miles from 5,000 but according to my dash my oil life is at 55%. I'm planning on getting my oil change at 5,000, or should I wait for the oil life to reach zero. My wife's Compass tells her when it's time for an oil change.

That is purely your choice. Many do it at 5k, including myself but many don't and have no problems. A great quality oil matters too, but that's another thread. You do you.

Your choice, but I ignore oil life monitors.

Personally I change the oil in my Mojave every 5K with a quality synthetic. Easy to keep track of and I also rotate the tires.

Every 5K for me 🤷‍♂️

No scientific basis for that. But I like it.

I'm a 7,500 mile guy, which also coincides with 10-11 months (it's my weekend vehicle). If I remember correctly, my oil life % is usually showing around 25% remaining. No scientific basis other than that is what I have done on all my other vehicles and they all have gone well past 120k miles...including 2 turbocharged engines. My driving profile is 95%+ road/highway, occasional light trail, occasional towing single-axle trailer with lawn mower.

My previously owned GMC Canyon had the same thing. I’d be at 5,000 miles and it would say something like 60% left (In the winter). In the summer months, I’d go 3,000 miles and it’d be down to 0%. 🤷‍♀️

Even the dealerships aren’t going by that…. Both the Canyon & the JT…. After getting an oil change at the dealership, they’d put that little sticker in the upper left corner of the windshield saying to change it in 5,000 miles or 6 months.

I bought my '23 new in February of '24. I did the first change at 3k miles, and then followed the Oil Life monitor down to 3%. I used the two Jeep Wave changes, at around 9k miles in December '24 and around 16k miles in December '25. It runs great with no ticking or other noises.

I'll renew the Jeep Wave sometime this year and then have two more oil changes to use.

It very much depends on your driving habits and your annual mileage.
If you do a fair amount of short trips and city driving with lots of idling and starts and stops, then every 5000 miles is probably a good number for you.

If your daily drive is 20 miles or more one way and on highways and freeways, then you can probably safely stretch it to 7500.

You joined here in December. If you've done 5000 miles since then, then you may be a 10,000 miler, or you're going broke on oil changes, but I really don't like going that long.

I drive 75ish miles a day round trip m-f driving to work. I live rural but work in the city. Almost all of my miles are highway.
I certainly didn't buy it for the gas mileage! 🤣
