Curious, what does SWAG stand for, or is this like MOAB?

Not sure it means anything honestly. It’s the name the Aussies gave their mini tent things and it stuck as a kind of “genre” of tents. I like the lightweight portability of them. Grab and go piece of gear with quick easy setup and takedown.

I grew up with ground tents of all sizes and shapes and still have one but I'm working on that. I went from light weight to heavy car camping. It's a lot of crap in the bed of the truck to go for a weekend.

Ive camped with RTT's and it is absolutely my preference. I like the quick setup. I'm about done with a ground tent, the one we have I don't like as is. Takes up a ton of space, PITA to set.

But with an RTT and proper storage I'll be able to grab the boss, the pup, fill the cooler and go.

I mostly sleep in the truck for my AZ desert trips. It keeps setup super quick, and I don’t have to mess with extra tent gear bouncing around on rough roads.

I'm aware of what a swag tent is, the same way I'm familiar with the town Moab. For the life of me I have no idea what a SWAG is or why so many people here talk about the GBU-43/B Massive Ordinance Air Burst (MOAB) munition.

Good point. Probably because I got approved on my ID-10T form after gathering 125’ of runway for the PRC-E7 while refilling the water fountain.

I'm not willing or even wanting to spend 2K+ on any sort of tent, rooftop or not. I found the C6 Outdoors Rev Tent, and its a god send. I can attach it to my rack and platform, toss it on the ground, or even drop it in the bed of a truck (without a bed rack). Its waterproof, has a 4 inch thick mattress and only weighs something like 30 lbs.

Second, its just find a place to go where you wont get buried in mud getting there, and making sure its either open or BLM land. Thank God for OnX.

In Alaska, plopping on someone's land is more than likely going to get you shot. And here, the shooter doesn't have to prove that they were an actual threat to you. The only wrong you have to do is BE on the land.

Several people get the shock of their lives here when they go hiking at Hatcher Pass and accidentally wander onto someone's gold mine claim and suddenly they have incoming rounds.
We refer to these people as "Tourons".

The only things I usually carry with me are blankets, pillow, cooler with assorted food and beverages, my medkit, my camp chair and medicinal bourbon. I'm currently looking into buying a propane fire pit and accoutrements, just so I dont have to fill up half my already tiny bed with firewood.

Its not huge, and definitely not for more than 2 people with stuff, but it is exactly what I needed for what I do.

Last year we bought a cheap tent from Amazon and went camping for the first time as a family. We all loved it and want to keep doing it. I recently bought a Gazelle tent so we're going to go out again. We also rented some cabins this fall to try that out. My ultimate goal is to get a small teardrop-sized camper for the three of us to camp with.

Cabins are fun. Of course that depends on how much the family needs in creature comforts and how well equipped the cabins are. I stayed in one at Okuma Beach on Okinawa and they were pretty comfy. It was work related. Only issue I had was when a furry missile came crashing over my bunk going for his ball. I got bunked with the MWD.

5 x 10 Offroad trailer. We can also haul our 2 wooden kayaks with the use of an additional bracket not shown in the picture OR the ATV depending on the adventure. Set up for portable solar and has on board water.

Welp. That is one of the coolest setups I have seen. But I used to be into ATV's so I appreciate the combination of efforts.

I had a Teardrop before (a Nucamp with the offroad package) that I liked quite a bit.

Then I had an RTT with a rack for a short while. I do like that setup a lot, but camping season is only half the year at best and with a complete lack of public land it wasn't a worthwhile setup to keep. Luckily I bought it all used. It was fun to experience, though.

I ground dwell now. I have a few different tents, so for what little camping I do, I pick the setup that works for that trip.

We would like to have a small pop-up camper, one of the lifted models, next - but its not priority.
