I had the paint corrosion repaired on my hood and doors back in February/March 2024 and wouldn’t you know it…just my luck, the paint on my hood is bubbling again on the front edge.

My hood and doors were covered with the clear 3M which I had done back when I got the truck in 2021 and that was taken off to do the paint repair. Chrysler would not include having the 3M put back on after the repair, so cost was on me. When I got the truck back, there was over spray around the other surfaces which also included on the back passenger glass window. However, the colour matched! Dealership knows about the overspray and when I get a break from work, I can take it back to the paint shop and let them figure out what to do. Now, they also get to see the new corrosion bubbles.

The warranty repair bill to Chrysler was $8700 cad and the 3M cost me $1400. Now only 4 months later and now past my 3 years, corrosion has started again. I’m numb and feel so done.

Oh man no way!! Again?? Thats terrible.

You reminded me to check on mine so thanks. Looks like the door hinges have the spacer that not everybody has. Must have been one of the first it's a late 21 production year. But the hood hinges do not. Strange.

Alas.... on both sides of the hood just a little back from midpoint. Maybe it's a manufacturer flaw. Looks an awful lot like the corrosion issues everyone else is having though.

My 2021 Gladiator had the same corrosion and paint bubbling around the hinges on the hood and along the bottom of the hood where yours is. It was so bad Jeep replaced the hood. I was told the new hood was properly treated and would not corrode again. While waiting on the new hood the transmission went out stranding me in a snow storm, odometer reading 16,000 miles. The last straw was when Jeep refused to proactively repair the doors. After 24 years I am no longer a Jeep owner, I traded it as soon as the hood was finally replaced. Jeep is being sued in class action lawsuits in at least 3 states because of the corrosion, they know there is a problem but won’t acknowledge it. Good luck, but Stellantis does not give a rat’s behind about long time customers. Good Luck to you. It is a real shame because I really liked the Gladiator and it pained me to get rid of it but I no longer trust the Jeep brand. Those two problems were not the only issues I had with the Jeep.

Did you consider that the 3M film might be trapping moisture or salt a facilitating corrosion?

The dealerships have options to have clear film put on for a fee. Expel is one such film, 3m is another. The corrosion starts from under the paint and primer and pushes out to the surface. This type of corrosion we experience is not at the surface working down to the aluminum.
