I really want to join the club. Using a RH plate that sits on top of the bumper and while super solid, I want a recessed mount that doesn’t block the grill. Looks like an LOD plate and a cutting tool is all that’s needed? And instructions of course!
That’s it. I used an angle grinder for cutting the thin metal skin behind the plastic bump. A dremel will work perfect for the plastic. It really isn’t that hard at all. Just takes a little time to measure, cut, and adjust. Start smaller than you think and walk it out to the right size. In this pic you can see the plastic I removed. That should give you an idea of how much you’ll be cutting.

All you guys that managed to get a winch in the OEM plastic bumper throw up a picture here just one picture. Perhaps add what winch plate and what winch. Amazed at all the different ways and how really great they look. No questions ,no advice if ya did one post a pic!

I like this look and the fact that you can do this with a factory bumper but it brings to mind some questions for me.
1. how thick is the lod winch plate? I hear 1/4 inch is preferred.
2. Is there a specific winch brand you must use?
3. Is there a winch rating limitation?(9000, 10000 etc) in said brands.
4. The hole in the front for the fairlead, will the bumper withstand the pulling forces exerted on it when called upon.
5. Does this work with the metal skid plates or must you delete them?

i am sure i have other questions just cannot think of them currently.

1. It's dark and I'm going by what I can see but yeah I think it's 1/4". I'll add a pic below, it’s the part indicated by the red arrow. The yellow arrow points to the bracket that the bumper bolts through, for size reference.

2. I used an old smittybilt 12k X20

3. See answer to #2 above.

4. I imagine the bumper would fare better against any off center forces than the furled mount itself given the fairlead mount is metal and the plastic bumper has some give to it? Can't be too sure though.

5. I have a rubicon with factory metal skid and it worked just fine.

This thread or another, I am curious what kind of lateral load a "stacked Fairlead" (as a spacer behind the plastic bumper) can handle. Aware we should not be winching on angles but Ii am sure it happens. DO you think this stacked fairlead will hold up in the field/rocks?? I like the idea but have to ask???

@Jaxmax was the inspiration for my plastic bumper winch installation. LOD Signature Winch Plate and Warn 9.0 RC winch. Jaxmax was able to fit his contactor under his hood, but I don't have the raised hood that he has so I mounted it next to the winch, it just fits!

Can you help me find the OP/Poster who stacked fairleads??? ""I am curious what kind of horizontal load a "stacked Fairlead" (as a spacer behind the plastic bumper) can handle"". He included the bolt specs too so that can help me evaluate. Thanks!

What are you guys attaching the fairlead to? Is it the winch plate you’re using?
Thanks.
