I’ve had my Jeep for a little over a year now. It’s been an interesting build so far since I’m resolved to do as much of it myself as I can and I currently live in an apartment. Hopefully some of the lessons learned will help others, this community has certainly been super helpful to me so far.

The truck as of today

Great looking truck! I've been looking at the Genright bumpers as well. Any idea how much they weigh? I couldn't find it listed on their website

I wouldn't plan on getting over Skyline Drive in UT until any sooner than late May.
I think that is about my timeline, if I need to adjust, I will do my NV/CA divert first after CO (already plan on having to bypass some in CO) and then head to UT early June.

Please remember ventilation is key. You want to keep the dust out of the epoxy and not breathe this stuff. But it's a fun project if you need to keep your hands busy. They make lots of CF with different patterns and colors. For me it was for Euro stuff. But go nuts, and enjoy it. I'd be curious to see CF dash panels to replace the red on the Rubicon.

Sweet. I love carbon fiber. It's extremely light and tougher than hell.

With the winch tray it’s around 55lbs for the front and ~25 in the back.

I haven’t decided what I’m doing with the fenders yet. I quite like the aluminum fenders from Genright, but want to see what the wheels distance looks like once I’ve swapped out the current wheels and moved to 37s.

As for why I did the liners. The aluminum liners provide nice inner tire tuck and are easy to remove to take things apart.

I think you are right on the wheels. Right now I’m leaning toward the Method 703s with Toyo Open Country RT. They are going to be pushing it on backspacing, but hopefully they will work.

Will get to the air system next :)
I see I am in waaaay over my head here. I’m going to need a Jeep dictionary I think! it’s a whole new language! 😜

I asked genright the weight question 2weeks ago and was told

Patrick,
The weight of the front bumper is 72lbs with winch tray and tow points. The rear bumper is approx. 40 lbs.

Huh, maybe that is shipping weight? The tow points aren’t light, but I can easily hold the rear bumper in one hand. I’m not buff enough to easily lift 40lbs like that. I have a 40lb weight I use for strength training, so I’m pretty confident about the comparison.

That looks coastal like maybe Houston or Corpus? Try heading west then, Jeeps are a dime a dozen here in El Paso... Btw, how’s the onboard air set up working for you especially with the connector location?

Corpus :)

Onboard outlet location is really working out. No problems so far, and the plumbing is really straight forward.

I found a nice place to mount a small aluminum air tank (where the angle in the floor is under the back seat). Haven’t taken a picture of it yet because I wanted to test it on this trip. So far it’s really working out. I’ll share more when we get back about what worked and what didn’t.

We are in Colorado now, conditions are constantly changing but all the off road passes I’ve driven past around Ouray are closed with some pretty deep snow pack visible.

Skiing in Silverton was excellent as always though!

Colorado thaws quickly though. I hope timing and conditions work for you!

Welcome to my state! Yeah, we got spanked with another snow storm yesterday and last night. Should melt off soon, but the weather guessers are prediction snow or rain for most of this week. This is somewhat typical for March in Colorado, but for the most of the year, we don't get very much precipitation.

Fun picture from our detour down to Texas. Not many Jeeps in Texas, kinda surprising.

Hey Elise,
I've spent a lot of time in Texas and there is a reason there are so damn many Toyota trucks there. The Tundra and Tacoma TRD series trucks are made in San Antonio. Not near as many Jeeps as I expected to see.
