I learned some more stuff over the last couple of weeks.

As I had previously mentioned, I switched to 5.38 gears. As part of that project, I was hoping to re-do the lockers so I could activate the front and rear independently (unlike the all or rear option stock). So I removed the harnesses, and rewired them to aux switches (for now).

Unfortunately, doing this throws a 4wd fault. I tried using J-Scan to disable all of those features, but can't find the right combination. There appears to be a "vehicle configuration mismatch" error that is confusing everything. So for now, I used my tazer to disable the lockers. If you leave the taser connected it will kill the faults.

This did lead to another problem.... tazer expects the fad to also be disabled if you disable the lockers. So, I order the solid axle for my RCV (you can get that part specifically if you call them) and swapped it in.

Truck is running well now, but it is annoying that I have to leave my taser plugged in.

Will do some more research, but lots of fun computer problems for a simple change!

Curious how this has turned out.
For the lockers, could you put resistors in the system to fool the computer?

Good Question! I ran the taser configuration for a couple trips and everything worked really reliably so… I’ve just not messed with it since.

I miss seeing your updates. As a beginner fabricator, the things you’re able to do are really impressive to me. It inspires me to push the envelope a little.

Thanks guys! I have driven off a few cliffs the last year. All were intentional though.

I’m finishing up a kswap of my car, then the next project will be a flat bed with storage space for recovery gear. Even bobbed I’m still finding trees to bang the bed into and I’m sick of buying bondo.

Where are you getting your " fabricator parts"
In the past I have used ruff stuff on my DD Samurai turned Buggy. Now that playing with my JT, Finding bolt on's are so much more then fabricator parts
But 35 are so much cheaper than 40's 🤣

I’ve gotten things from Barnes and TRM. But honestly most of those I modified and now I’m mostly doing everything custom. Bolt ons are so expensive and they wear out quickly, even with constant maintenance.

I can buy steel and aluminum from my local distributor for like nothing. It’s intimidating getting 20-24’ lengths of metal delivered, but worth it.

I built a metal cutting / storage rack which has been a huge help for managing that.

I track it. After putting a cage in it last year started having all sorts of weird computer problems (I removed all the electronics before welding to protect them). It got unsafe, so I sold the fa24 and replaced everything with Motorsport focused stuff.

Planning to do some west coast trails soon, so made a couple long delayed updates.

Rebuilt my suspension
Finally replaced my stock fenders
Found some metal stress, so re-welded my track bar / ram mount

I had been sold on the GR fenders for a while, but recently saw someone else’s dent after a fairly light tap with a rock. Decided to take a gamble on the other aluminum option I’d been considering: Nemesis.

The engineering is pretty well thought out on theirs. Good welds, extra bracing for the front fenders. We’ll see how they hold up to trail damage soon. I also impulse bought their rear inners since my Artec fenders have suffered from the stainless bolts/aluminum nuts corroding together. Probably should have put anti seize on :/

Had to do a last minute repair on my Jeep while on the road :/ Discovered a bad bushing that I missed. Have to give props to Dixie 4 wheel drive. I tried 4 shops before them and was offering part numbers, multiple days, and generally just trying to make an easy job simple for them. Kept getting turned down or push back until I contacted Dixie. The guy over the phone immediately got it. When we got there it was like an hour from arrival to departure, they charged me no markup on the part and fair labor costs. Overall excellent experience with a shop!

Gotta love it when a shop helps you out in a pinch. We’ve all been there.

We did the Rubicon a couple days ago with 4 Gladiators and what used to be a JK. It was a blast, only regret was that it only took 2 days :P We had planned for 3, clearly should have slowed our pace.

New fenders performed well, they flexed out nicely with zero chance of interference. I did catch one edge on a large rock and it bent a little, but should be an easy fix with a wrench and welder.

Also, I was able to do the soup bowl obstacle with minimal drama which was pretty cool.
