Retired. Finally !!
Is it just the cynic in me or does anyone else find it suspect that literally no one has came back with, "Mine's at the dealer waiting for repairs." ??

I would assume that Jeep wouldn't throw out this recall where it's costing them millions in manpower hours across the nation if there really was no concern. Are we really getting a legit inspection or a "looks good, sent it out, next !!" quick look ?

Recalls are much more serious than TSB's or "Customer Satisfaction" notices. I mean, almost EVERY Renegade owner with the 2.4 Tiger Shark engine (including me) had excessive oil consumption issues. Did Jeep release a recall ? Nope, they did a "Customer Satisfaction" type notice; bring it in, we'll look at it. This was a known defect, yet no recall. Jeep just said, "It's normal for the engine to consume up to 1 quart of oil every 1,000 miles.". Uh, no it's not.

Recalls are not sent out willy-nilly, it costs too much.

I thought once my Gladiator got the all-clear, I was good. Now I'm thinking if it DOES burn down, Jeep will just say, "It was good when we looked at it, we have the paperwork; sorry. Call your insurance carrier.".

I had a similar thought but if they said it was good and that changes... litigators love that sort of stuff.

As of last week the only Jeeps with the issue at my local dealer were 4XE Wranglers.

Doesn't surprise me in the least nobody here has stated theirs is at the dealer awaiting repairs for this recall. Foremost reasoning for this is from the get go the expected rate of vehicles with a legitimate problem was placed at 0.1% of the overall number produced during the affected run, so quite literally only one out of every one thousand vehicles. Add to that reasoning the fact that it's very safe to say most JT owners aren't on or participating on this forum, and the chances of seeing any of those one in a thousand people pipe up here are pretty slim.

For the reasoning why Jeep decided to issue a recall, that was covered in the initial NHTSA report. Simply put, they did so out of an abundance of caution, regardless of the low expected number of faulty pumps. It's basically just trying to get ahead on damage control in the face of the backlash from other recent recalls like the exploding/burning 4XEs or the manual transmission clutch fires.

As for the cost to Jeep for this recall, manhours-wise it actually comes out to only 0.3 hours per inspection or whatever the time and parts cost is involved to replace the pump and fix the wire harness on the relatively small number of failed inspection vehicles. Big picture, they've most likely already spent far more on simple warranty work replacing 3.6L camshafts than they ever will on this recall.

I am sure they went through a lot of R and D and negotiations to come up with something the NTSB would agree to. They were sure it was such a small number in the tenths of a percent or lower of the vehicles that potentially had the wrong size connector issue it aligns with not hearing anyone mention they had to replace the harness if it is less than a few dozen out of over a million. It would be good to here about a vehicle or two having to have the harness replacement verifying the inspection procedure is thorough enough we may never get any real numbers. The main reason i took my Jeep in for inspection was documentation to remove the potential insurance could claim i contributed to the issue by knowing of the issue to limit their liability if something did happen.

Mine checked good as well, however, to ease my worries, I have installed 2 automatic extinguishers in the engine bay before I'll park it in the garage; one underside the hood, and one mounted directly above the PS pump on the lower side of the air filter housing.

Assuming this is the FerroSticker. How hot does our engine bay get during operation?

It is their F09 unit, and triggers above 356 degrees F. I have not measured the actual temp, so hopefully will never get that hot!

That is a good preventive measure for a vehicle or vessel if you have a concern it may catch fire especially unattended. It will be good to see how they stand up to the environment over time.
It still makes no sense to me having large circuits feed off the battery with out circuit protection when auto reset breakers or even fuses are available.

Pretty sure the fuse array (the one piece fuse assembly) on the fuse box has a fuse in it for the power steering, as the power steering feed attaches there.

The Google brain told me it got up to around 250-265. I dunno. It’s a very good alternative for automatic suppression. I’d probably put one under the fuel side of the Jeep too. That’s really the only place I’ve seen them catch fire due to brush between the skid and the transfer case. Right there around the exhaust area.

That would make me question how it could heat up enough to cause combustion if it was fused to match the load from the pump and the size of conductor never really looked to far into how it is fed. Could be the defect in the connector pieces and or the connection get glowing hot well before the capacity of the actual conductor and rating of the fuse is reached maybe.

They're looking for a damaged or incorrectly connected connector, so it's plausible a poor connection at a high amp draw location could pose a fire hazard before blowing a fuse. Resistance can do that.

On my moms 2006 Chevy Equinox it melted a factory fan relay without blowing a fuse, then melted a factory cooling fan connector without blowing a fuse a year later.

It can happen in the right circumstance.

Did you mount one on the bottom of the airbox it looks like?

Can you share more about that plate you stuck the underhood one on?

I basically found some thin aluminum aircraft plate (0.40) and painted it black and put some 1/4" holes in the plate, removed the headliner and cleaned the surface and applied some JB-Weld to some stud-mounts that have 1/4-20 threads (below, from Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BNN651NM?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1) . The fasteners are 1/4-20 x 1/2" with shaker washers. For the one mounted above the PS-pump I took off the airbox and cut a plate and used the lower side of the airbox for the 2 mount screws (8/32 x 1-1/4", with nyloc nuts) I did not want the screws to go through where the filter sits, so went lower on the airbox for the fasteners, but mounted the unit to the upper side of the base of the airbox. Hope this helps if you are doing something similar!
