What headaches. Mine has been trouble free for 40,000 miles.
Just crossed 102K. No issues other then a bad tank of fuel in western Nebraska.

Come on back, OP, and burn some oil with us 😁

Gasser not a diesel but I have a 2020 sport that hasn't had any major issues as of yet. Over 136k at the moment. Just normal maintenance stuff is all that's been done with some of the cheap plastic crap breaking on me is all.

2023 diesel....
We've all made decisions that we later regret, so don't beat yourself up. Get yourself back into a better financial position, then go find a low mileage 2023 diesel if that's really what you want. The Gen 3 EcoDiesel is a good engine!

That would suck having to get warranty work after 50k miles. I don't think you are good fit for a diesel though given all the headaches people have with them.
I had to replace my DEF tank under warranty, knock on wood I’ve had no other issues. 2021 diesel Willy’s and per the traffic on this forum I’m the only one in existence with minimal to no issues. 💁

To the OP, that sucks man. Build up that cross trek a bit, won’t be a Jeep but still looks fun. I had a WRX back in the day, still one of my favorite all around cars.

30k on my diesel… trouble free.

If I were to place a wager, I’d bet per capita, there are just as many if not more top end issues with 3.6’s than HPFP, DEF tank or any other “imminent death” people fear monger on.

It's been a few months and I regret trading in my Gladiator.... It was a 2020 Sting Gray Sport S Max Tow. My first new vehicle ever.
I was overly impulsive after having to have the cams, rockers, and lifters all replaced at 52k miles.... I got a used 2021 Subaru Crosstrek Limited, and lost my a** on the trade in. But I was upset at said warranty work being ridiculous at just 50k miles. Seriously miss my truck. Really upset at myself and my lack of patience due to the deals last month as if I just would have waited a few months I could have probably traded it in at a Jeep Dealer, gotten more in value from it, and been able to trade up into a 2023 diesel....
Right now it's a few years of eating crap until I'm not 18k underwater and I'm getting a gladiator back. Sadly the diesels won't be around but I figure I'll try for a Mojave (and hope that they bring back Punk'n as a color....)
Anyways thanks for listening to me rant about my own stupidity.

I'm at 22K and just bought the extended Mopar Max Care warranty [8 years/85,000 miles, $100 Deductible] for $1,995 for my 2022 manual transmission Mojave. While I'll be seriously pissed off if it needs work there is no way I'm getting rid of the vehicle I ordered with every option except the smokers group. I have the half doors and everything.

I would just sell the Subaru outright . Then Go get a Gladiator..according to you preference a diesel version can be found in the used market.
I am partial to the Gas 3.6L why ? Front end weight, price of oil filters literally everything even oil changes parts cost of repairs all will cost more on the diesel versions.
Gas is cheaper even.Do they offer coverage for Gladiators with 97316 miles ? 😂

Many issues with the Diesels ( all brands ) is they need to run miles for the emissions systems to work properly. Too many short trips and idling will cause problems.
I figured out a solution to this problem. JTM for short trips, JTRD for long trips. The diesel kicks ass! And honestly, this was my wife’s idea as I kept borrowing her car so I didn’t make short trips with the diesel. Maybe a strategy for some of you that want the diesel to last forever but still want the Gladiator fun ride. She is a keeper…the wife that is!

I had the work done at 80,000, others had it with under 20,000. Many don't have any engine issues. We still drive out Gladiators.
Yep. Mine has ~40k on it now with no issues yet, but if and when it dies, I'll just have it repaired or replaced and keep on trucking. Absolutely LOVE this thing!

I know two really good EcoDiesel engine builders. Both guys are young, so they should be around for the next 30 years. I wouldn't be surprised if a few other EcoDiesel engine builders appear on the scene in the coming years. The engine itself brings a lot of nostalgia to the brand, so there will always be interest in the EcoDiesel.
