Good luck. Let us know. I think you should remove your rear seats and store them in your house. It's easy and that removes the chance some idiot will mess your seats up.
Might look into that, I do recall the service advisor saying that the rear seats in the Ram trucks had to be removed.

There is a STAR case and a class action lawsuit about the same BS window design for the 5th Gen RAMs. I'm going to contact that attorney and link him this thread. Maybe he will add the Gladiator to the lawsuit. This may help those out of warranty or with idiot dealers who won't perform.

Class action:

https://www.classaction.org/news/al...intrusion-problem-sparks-class-action-lawsuit

Gladiator is the exact same....FCA ( now Stellantis ) acting dumb, never revising the part...limiting warranty exposure.

At a minimum they should alert customers to check. This problem can HIDE for a long time and destroy your interior. I only noticed because of interior condensation and then I had to grab something behind the seat.

At a minimum they should author and distribute a procedure to remove the window without damaging everything around it. They should design and distribute special tools to do so.

Instead they play dumb ' you're the first person who has ever had this issue ' and look the other way while local glass installers mangle customer's trucks due to having no training or tools to do the job properly. Jeep loves this....they can pass the buck.

@JeepCares Jeep should be ashamed. I read this whole thread. It's embarrassing and disgusting.

I emailed the lawyer representing the plaintiffs in the class action. I summarized the issue, how it is identical to the RAM issue at the center of their class action, and linked this thread.

Yes.. I know....only the lawyers get rich. Not the point. Jeep needs to revise the part and cover this defect well outside the warranty period. They also need to alert all owners about the issue and advise checking for leaks given this can go on undiscovered for months and destroy the interior, fry electronics, anything.

It is absolutely a safety issue as it can cause mold.

This looks like the only way to get any action out of Jeep, especially for us out of warranty. When they believe it will be cheaper to find a fix and correct the problem than deal with angry customers they will come up with an answer and correct our problem.

On my 3rd piece of glass, still leaking. I'm going to call the dealer today and ask what the process looks like to just get a new top (prayers appreciated). @JeepCares any suggestions?

I don't think there is a reliable fix. They will just keep putting the same defectively engineered parts back on.

Now that it has stopped raining in SoCal and I can pull my "outdoor offroad truck" out of the garage, today I will be trying the Permatex option:

If this fails, I will layer on the next option, 7mm vacuum hose around the perimeter:

I will report results. Unless Jeep revises the window design to one that doesn't suck, I am not going to play repair parts roulette with them.

so about two years ago I did the tubing in the channel dry with no silicone to fix my leak...so far so good..if it does leak again I might put silicone with the tubing..my thought was if the tubing rotted I could easily replace it

How far around did you wrap it? It seems it will easily fit up top but the sides get much more narrow.....

I went all across the top and down about 3 inches on each side..I figured it would just run out at the bottom with no issues and so far so good there also ...I have a shell on now or I would take pictures

Got the Permatex on. Will test tomorrow. I used a super bright Streamlight flashlight to look in the gap to make sure it was clean. It was, but I noticed the gasket was smashed....for lack of a better word....on one side. I couldn't see it on the other side or the center...but driver side it was pinched upwards. So mine is cracked and installed improperly.

I tired to photograph it but I just couldn't focus on it...very hard to see. I will test tomorrow and whether it leaks or not add a second coat and then install the vacuum hose. Belt and suspenders approach.

Just curious, is the issue people having with the rear small window for hard top? I noticed a leak not long after I took delivery in September and couldn’t figure out what it’s from. I washed the truck several times, no issue. Then recently had a strong storm and noticed a few drips got through.

It seems to be coming from the top of the window. I have appt for February 3rd. My dealer said depending on the outcome, it may cost $170 to fix. They can fuck right off as it’s brand new truck.

I did the rubber tubing as well (no other sealant, just the tubing). I went all the way down both sides, but left the bottom open. You're right, the sides get a little narrower. I used isopropyl alcohol as an installation lubricant, but it was still a PITA to go down the sides. I was going to stop about 3-4" down each side, but I didn't like how it looked.

It's the hard top. It usually isn't the sliding window, it's a defective rear glass installation and/or a cracked frame. I have both. Dealers tend to only make your blood boil regarding this. ...by keeping your truck for 2 months and scratching the shit out of the top, ripping seats. That's why I am taking the DIY approach. Don't wanna deal with those orcs.

The fact that some subhuman service writer is already talking to you about being paid for your under warranty truck is a red flag.

Sad that jeep has not solved this issue by now.
