When it comes to trucks, tow ratings have been reduced due to optioning a standard transmission since at least the 80’s when they started to disappear from the option list. At some point “feelings” lose out, though I understand the nostalgia.
That's not a manual issue, it's an automaker issue.

To their credit, Jeep is doing their best considering manual transmissions are new technology. Hard to get it right since no one’s ever built one before. ?

Ordered my 6MT Mojave on 2/1/23. Still f-ing waiting.
Seriously? February? Omg. I ordered my 6MT 8/9/23.

I fully understand the concept of personal preference to a point that it affects performance, reliability and value of a vehicle designed for utility. Well , I had a standard tranny 6 speed 2011 and a 2015 2500 ram with 6.7 Cummins turbo diesel the 2015 more torque than the 2011 but both de-rated power wise compared to the auto's in both HP&Torque and reduced tow ability why? = the clutch could not handle the torque or weight. If one wanted to tow more . A after market double disc clutch had to be ordered and installed . Voiding warranty of course. Same for the gladiators. It isnt the transmission it is the clutch. They simply aren't set up to support much more power than what the 3.6 can dish out. If a large conversion motor is installed a clutch upgrade is a must.. I will be honest though even with the 6500 or some odd amount of tow the Rubicon has I usually never go beyond 5000-5500 and usually I'm around 3000 when I do tow which is on a couple times a year( small pop up camper) and that is why I got rid of the diesel. I wasnt utilizing it like it should be and it wouldn't climb those steep access dirt and gravelly roads I am forced to travel for work. Some were so steep the front t end of the truck was trying to go back down the hill while the rear was going up..lol. needless to say they gave me 27000 for it which made it alot easier to get the Gladiator.
I went with the automatic for 1 main reason. I been shifting my whole life and my clutch knee is weak and has a catch in it. Secondly the downhill controlled descent was the tipping point . And I absolutely love it . Used it two days ago on 19-22% downhill on the old farm. It works amazing. No gas no brakes just steering wheel and the gear selector .

It's not that the clutch can't handle the power its the clutch they choose to use can't handle the power. The manufactures know if the clutch makes any noise at all people will gripe and bring them in to be looked at when nothing is wrong. I'm a die hard manual driver. I've had the rams too where I put dual disk I'm when the factory clutch started slipping while towing. The dual disk can handle fully tuned power but they're not quiet. On the jeep they don't need dual disk just a proper pressure plate and flywheel like ACT, I think the jeep clutch being marginal is due to jeep wanting a light clutch feel for some reason.

I have an ACT clutch in mine now and 5.13 gears, while its acceptable in my opinion now its still not ideal. I'd like for first and reverse to be at a travel speed of 1mph at idle on flat ground. That is exactly how my 75 f250/is with 35" tires and 4.10 gears.

As far as some people not understanding g why we don't just buy autos, Every single auto I have driven and told they are so good now just irritates the... well you know out of me. Every lazy shift every hmm let me think what gear to drop to when the gas it mashed just makes me think what a awful driving experience. I want all my equipment to do what I want when I want it to, not what some poorly written software is guessing is the right choice.

You know, you can still shift without using the clutch at all, except from a stop. You can still do this even on the new ones. Just gotta find the harmonic syncro point and shift .
Clutch knee problem solved:rock:

I would have taken a manual trans had one been offered with the diesel. But then I'd be dealing with two recalls with no parts I guess.
A manual trans without a granny first in a 4wd/truck application doesn't really work for me anyway.

How long can Stellantis postpone the fix and dodge NHTSA? Is anyone aware of any class action lawsuits on this? Should have opted for the automatic, current 6spd is absolute garbage, and the clutch issue is an icing the shit cake. I used to be save the manuals guy, always had a stick shift car in the house since I could remember, at this point my next truck/car will be an auto unless it is a 911.

I just recieved a call from my dealer saying my 6MT Mojave is being built the 4th week in October. Maybe there is a fix we don't know about?!

How can they know that, given the UAW strike is still ongoing?

I'm not sure, there is definitely something going on behind the scenes. Last week my dealer told me that the tentative ship date on my truck was 11/2 (and it flipped to scheduled on 9/22 obviously after the strike started)

No idea, and good point though. I guess there are things going on the public does not know about
