I have had many 5.7s all with less issues than my 3.6 has had with just 18,000 miles. I bet its just alot easier to justify the price using a 6.4. I would prefer the lighter 5.7 for my use

Sounds like the bearings in the SC are GONE, a long time ago gone. The TRD SC has a similar issue, even though it was built by Vortech, the design was by Toyota, and the bearing design killed the SC the same way.

I've never been a fan of SCing engines that don't need it for their intended purpose, RACING. Donw low torque for drag racing or pulling big loads at low speeds where a spike in boost isn't acceptable.

Turbos are they way, no extra power losses to power your power booster (like that phrasing?) Less stress on the engine at the same boost levels, higher possible boost levels, more power over a broader range, easily tunable for the rpm range you want power in.

Oh, and when you don't want/need that power, you don't HAVE to use, unlike SCs where if the throttle is open, it's making boost (only a couple MODERN SCs have the ability to bypass boost internally, but they still MAKE boost, they just recirculate it back through the intake until you say it's okay to use it again.

Similar to SCs, a larger displacement engine is just like a SC, always there, always consuming. Just adding the weight factor on top now. Granted THIS is the ONLY way I'm aware of that allows SOME sort of OEM warranty for the upgraded power gain.

That supercharger is almost new. For certain, it has less than 30 minutes of total run time. The folks at Ripp are in disbelief that a second unit is also bad. They are treating me well, and I plan to do a write-up on the whole exchange between them and me. Readers digest version: They are good people!
As for the weight and the larger engine, it will likely be well camouflaged with the expansive torque of that monster.

I believe the 5.7 and the 6.4 are the same weight. Someone check me on this...
From what (little) I know, the 5.7s experienced a price surge, while the 6.4s did not. The delta between those engines has narrowed, making it "easier" to just step up to the bigger displacement. There were some other factors, but having installed over a hundred 6.4s and tuned them, I think they're just a well-sorted, trouble-free swap. In either case, customers can choose to shop the 5.7 from other installers. I do think you can buy the 6.4 swap from my shop for less than a 5.7 from AMW...

It was funny, actually. A fellow aviator who you'd expect would be a bit more informed/worldly. No vehicle inspections. Swap any motor into anything. Put a 454 in your Prius: Go for it.

Oh, and guns everywhere. I joked about that one, you see in Kali, there are guns everywhere as well, all the gangsters, gang members, cartel people, addicts, and so forth. In Kentucky, it's the honest folks who are packing a .44 and a 12-gauge. Maybe that's the reason we don't have any crime.

No pronouns, no antifa, no black lives matter, not very many people with blue/green hair, I guess we are just sort of normal and boring... Must have been shocking to him!

When he was just getting here, some stupid teens broke into an old man's home. The old timer dumped an entire magazine of .22 into them. One dead in the house, one dead a mile down the street. The police came, looked it over, and gave him a pat on the back.

Oh, and mess with a cop here...You'll be visiting the dentist for some new implants, and nobody saw anything...

I think every third person here is an ex-Marine, Ranger, Green Beret, or similar, and none of them have killed anything in the past two weeks, so people really don't get in other people's faces.

Works for me, and I'm here to coach future imports from the left coast.

Also interested in pricing as they state on their website they use the AMW kit and interested in the differences you eluded to. Either way, congrats and I amsure the end result will be amazing. Man this truck has been through it all! I had an AEV build under the name RodRecket that I had modified with long arms and new suspension. That has now been replaced with a stroked 6.4 (7.3, 448ci) swap. Then I got to do another long arm swap and crate axles.

I'm definitely interested to see JSS swap. Specifically the engine mounting and cooling. I just ran across some info on their build two nights ago searching for cooling options on mine. I'm going to start with getting the winch out of the grill opening and go from there. Coolant is fine, but the oil temps climb fast at CO elevation.

We are literally the birthplace of the cornbread mafia - so to say that KY is normal and boring, and that "only honest folks" have guns is an incorrect take. Heck, more pot is grown in KY than any other state in the nation (legal and illegal).

And yes, too many of the cops here think their shit don't stink, bad for the population they're supposed to "serve and protect" but good for the dentists I guess. The generations that ran moonshine down these roads wouldn't believe how many of their great grandchildren turned into bootlickers.

FYI, I was able to stuff a 3-row radiator into the cooling stack WITH the supercharger. You'll have to go backward on my build thread to the supercharging section to reference. But it fit and worked.

The RodRecket build was one of my favorites. Seems we just can't leave well enough alone!

having had 2 charger 5.7 and then a 392 scat pack I can say the difference in power was felt and the difference in MPG was nnot what I expected. I got qbout 17.5mpg in the 392 no matter what I did driving how I liked not how I should have. so really no reason to go for a 5.7 unless you feel the 6.4 in the jeep is too much power.

6.4L - 426 Hemi in my rig, right now, she's a heavy girl and last year when I weighed her was right at 7600lbs - TN to FL and back averaged 10.7 MPG @ roughly doing 75 MPH the whole drive.

** In all fairness, she needed a little love on her tune and was running rich the whole trip, so I might have a hope of running 12 MPG in the future, but 17.5 MPG is a thing of the past. Also she was brand new to me, so that may have had a few hard rips in the average of 10.7 I got....

Tennessee is much the same way and one of the reasons I love my home state, can't wait to see how your swap turns out, as I just finished mine recently through my shop.

What is your plan for skids for the new swap? The only ones that I found out the box that work with the 6.4L motor mounts are NextVenture, which is a great brand albeit pricey.
