(Side note based on this post) I used to have a Harley Davidson Road Glide that I absolutely loved to ride. Ohio has some great areas for bikers. I had to sell it because I just didn't feel comfortable on it anymore. Additional to a few close calls from distracted drivers, I was almost killed by a 16 year old girl who was texting around curves in Hocking Hills. Ran me into a stone embankment and somehow I didn't hurt the bike or myself. I sold it short after because at the time I had two younger children....anyway back to our discussion
I sold my bike in 2013. I would get another bike. I don't have the young children thing to worry about. You just need to keep your head on a pivot. No, when they went out previously in verse 35 and cast out demons, they had enough. The sword was a fulfillment of the old testament scripture referenced. Also, Jesus would want you to love your enemies.

If you'd rather be a victim, you do you. I'm not even religious, I just disagree that Jesus wanted you to be a willing victim and never defend yourself. There are scenarios like I mentioned previously where violence is the only answer. The only way to stop a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun. Not sure how a religious man would reconcile the idea that they never commit violence but they'll call others with guns to do it for them? Don't be the aggressor. Don't start the violence or attack others. But even God would want you defend yourself and your family. Even if he wouldn't I don't care. In my opinion that's my duty as a man, husband, and father. Your safety and that of those you care about is your responsibility period.
