My buddy bought a used 21' Blazer bass boat hull and hung a 300HP Verado on the back of it 😳

The only HP limit you have in Louisiana is your desire to live.
That’s how you party.

Gotta know where you are going for a whole different reason down here.

My buddy records GPS path when he goes out so he can find his way back. So many mazes from oil exploration.

Just a small example.
Same here…we have the whole sonar setup w/ mega imaging (which can be incredible if you’re able to get it setup right for the conditions. Marking your path along the way…extremely important!

We were on a guided fishing trip down south many years ago - HUGE lake… I remember the guide driving around in (what appeared to be) circles. There was no running straight across… Told us, there’s a forest of trees just under the surface. Crazy….…

Wow…. you’re allowed to do that down there??
Around here (Pennsylvania) - the boats have limits of how much horsepower you can put on any given boat based on its size, etc. . And there are limits to what (weight) the boat can carry.

They (PA Fish & Boat Commission) are strict about it…... Even on the small electric only lakes, they’ll pull you over and inspect everything.

I am working on that myself for my trailer during its Winter upgrades its getting. With the clearance mine has I am thinking I will do a under bed hoist style mount.
I thought you was mounting that RTT on the trailer ? Did you get a different type ?

I can't think of any lakes we have that are horsepower limited unless they are privately owned. I think there is one on the Texas/LA border that might be.

Of course, we have 'no wake' zones like many places - but rarely, rarely anything HP specific.

Now - his Blazer 21' has a factory placard with a maximum horsepower recommendation - but down here police are gonna make sure you have your life vests, fire extinguisher, other safety equipment and going to check your fish and licenses. They'll also check to make sure your passenger count to placard is good. I haven't heard too much ruckus about HP to placard, though. They are more likely to notice and say something on a tiller steer. More dangerous, you need to have your tether in case you get yeeted, etc. So I don't want to paint a picture that it's just the wild west. local sheriffs departments and wildlife and game are everywhere - and they stop folks.

But if you want to try and run 90 MPH fishing hole to fishing hole? Go for it.

Keep in mine, in this area we are also known for the Tickfaw 200, an annual poker run where people bring their on and offshore racing boats 😂

I do mount it on top of the rack that I built. I have it taken apart right now. Rack is getting powdercoated. I added a used decked drawer system to it recently. As soon as it warms back up a tad I will be painting it. Once its painted I will get it all put back together.

As long as the hull and transom are rated for the hp, I don’t know why Hp would be limited. Everywhere I’ve been it’s just been that. Can’t put more hp on than the boat’s capacity plate allows.

Up where Janster lives it's a real thing.

I had a jon boat with a 9.9 on it. The old man that had it specifically did it so that if he ever traveled, the boat would work on most any lake out there. He had planned to take it to some northern states, etc.

A jon boat with a 9.9 in Louisiana alone however, has no reason to exist. Down here, you put every bit of HP on the boat it is rated for / you can afford.

Correct…and that’s what I was referring to… horsepower ‘rating’.
Mine is rated up to 90……. I have a 60 on it.
If I put something much bigger on it…and go screamin’ fast….. that’ll be totally obvious to the officers. Will they care? Only If they’re not busy dealing with ass-hats who are drinkin’ and doing stupid stuff.

In terms of horsepower limited lakes…..
We have a lot of smaller lakes that are electric only. Some are under 100 acres. Most of these are reservoirs that supply water to the local communities. We fish one regularly that’s only 94 acres. Another we fish regularly is 650 acres….

There’s only one lake close to me (1 hour drive) that’s unlimited horsepower - and it’s 1,150 acres. It’s a shit-show and we avoid it. The only time you dare to go, is in the fall after they remove the docks. Those pleasure boaters don’t know how to launch or retrieve a boat from the beach.😂

I love waterways like that. To be able to go places others don’t know the route to get to.
The Louisiana Bayou the final frontier...to go where no man has ever gone before....and came back from 🤣🤣🤣

Speaking on Louisiana...

Today, in MN, I drove my truck to work... in 10 degrees... and on icy roads... and I didn't die!!

HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE?!?!?!

In all seriousness, I get that the south doesn't regularly see winter conditions, but it DOES happen every year, and every year no one is prepared and it's the end of the world. It just makes me chuckle.

Well, they can't spend all of their money on corruption related expenses if we buy sand and salt trucks to service all of the paved roads for the two days a year that we need them - so ends up being 'cheaper' to shut down for a couple days.

🤣

I read this morning on bookface a post from some weather reporter. He stated he talked to one of the truck drivers that was stranded, and the driver wasn't shutting his truck off for fear it wouldn't start again because it's 20 degrees out. And to pray for all the folks stranded in these freezing temps.

Say what? 😳

Even on winter diesel a truck should have zero issues starting in 20 deg. If it does, then you have larger issues and probably shouldn't be driving it over-the-road.

And freezing temps? We spend 10 hrs sitting on a bucket on the ice in 20 degrees. Put a jacket on lol.

And then theres the tire argument, "our tires don't do good on ice or snow!"... YOU GET THE SAME TIRE OPTIONS AS I DO! Order an all-season with good winter performance!

I think for me it's just the lack of preparation in the south. You (not you specifically, general statement) see the weather reports, you know it's coming, yet you still don't put emergency kits in your vehicles, you don't bring warm clothes, and then you act shocked when you get stuck somewhere.
