Probably another newbie question from a new JT owner.....my 'used' Gladiator did not come with the Freedom Panel bag....does the Mopar JL one work just as well? I can find those for well under $100 but the real deal is $155 plus tax

I believe the jl bag will work.

I think there are aftermarket bags available at places like quadratec.

I've seen posts where the aftermarket bags are not as good as the Mopar version....anyone like to chime in?

In the bag, in the bed. I have RhinoLiner so no sliding. Also have a soft roll up tonneau and as long as tailgate is locked, the tonneau can't be opened.
Have you checked that the locked tailgate keeps the soft roll up cover secure? I can open mine without opening the bed. Wondering if my roll up cover is installed incorrectly?

I 2nd/3rd/4th agree on the Sunrider top. On this trip, I had 4 different weather conditions on approx 200 mile round trip: cloudy, sunny, rainy, and snow covered just above freezing. I immediately knew the panels weren't going to work out in Alaska.

I'm thinking the Sunrider is the only way to really go. I love taking the Freedom Panels off but storage is obnoxious. I leave them in the garage but last time I took them off temps soared in AZ and I wished I had them to put back on. Crazy how expensive the Sunrider is though.....

The dumbest thing however is that its not a 4 piece top like on the Bronco. I've wondered this since the wrangler went 4 door. Is it just me, or doesn't it seem like it should have been an obvious design element?

I think one of the biggest screw-ups on the JT is that they didn't design a factory integrated place to put the panels.

I always put mine in the barn and never look back. The Sunrider is the ONLY way to go.

Someone who has put the tops in the bag and stowed them behind the front seat........please post a pic. I can't figure out the orientation.
I must be missing something obvious.

I might try and secure the bag with an endless tie down strap. Half rack goes in in a few hours and tie downs come Saturday. I ordered the endless tie downs as a low cost mounting option for traction boards.

I've got two sets of Freedom panels, in their bags, in the garage. Both my wife's JK and my JT have Sunriders. The panels are just too cumbersome to deal with.

And, yes, you can use a mesh sunscreen with the Sunrider. Can't remember my brand, but it works great. Bestop is making a retractable for the JK now. Guessing a JL/JT version will follow.

No, you can't easily remove the rear top (or the Sunrider) once installed. Hasn't been an issue for me. We just go doorless and top-on (and open) instead.

Wait- why can't you easily remove the sunrider once installed? Isn't it just reverse of installation?

I can only chime in to say the mopar bag is quite good, except itā€™s clearly designed for verticals storage. I wish it protected the panels better laid down horizontally.
