JT tailgate weight?

Anyone have an idea of approximate JT tailgate weight?

I am considering several "on bed" campers, like GFC, Alu-Cab, etc., and even though some are heavier than others, they require removal of JT's tailgate, which will result in about the same weight increase.

Not sure but I believe it is heavier than what could be carried by two sparrows, African or European, even if strung between them...

Maybe but I believe one of those killer hornets could tote it away so you better keep it latched.

It's a simple question of weight ratios! A five-ounce bird could *not* carry a one-pound coconut!

Shipping weight per Quadratec for the replacement of just the shell is 20lbs. I assume the whole assembly, with latches, lights, etc, can't be more that 40lbs-50lbs

That's a tarantula hawk. Stay the fuck away from them. One of the absolute painful stings in all the world, some say 2nd most painful behind bullet ant. Feels like electric shock, can cause temporary paralysis.. Thankfully not aggressive usually.

Called a tarantula hawk because they find a tarantula in it's burrow, sting it, and lay an egg on the spider. The sting will paralyze the spider but keep it alive, when the egg hatches the larvae will burrow into the spider and eat it alive from the inside out as it grows.

Edit. Also it's a wasp, not a hornet, if you saw it's thorax it would be obvious it's a wasp member.

Either way. I (and the dogs) stay the hell away from them. I have been able to identify them as they fly around. If I see one, I head inside. By the way, they are New Mexico's state insect.

For the response about the tailgate weight, I just thought I would send in the pic of the tarantula hawk I killed in the back yard. That is one of the biggest of wasps that I have seen....

Edit: I actually had never heard of them before, so thanks for making me look it up and finding the above video, as someone allergic to wasps I hopefully will never encounter one
