I guess I'll keep shopping or just go back to the dealership for another round. Amsoil appeared to be a great idea, but now it seems it's just too risky.
Yeah, based on what's been uncovered about them and their claims, and the runaround you'd be signing up for in the legal system should something happen, I'm surprised it's still on this list honestly.

Not that it's a bad oil, in fact I've used them a lot on various things from engines to transmissions to motorcycles. But I'd never use it on something I want to keep under warranty. I only use it after the warranty expires.

It’s surprising though, I’ve seen a post that they tested most of those oils and the only one that the ecoD (v3) didn’t manage to shear wast the Amsoil MS euro.
If one is also doing regular oil analysis (and they return good results), I’d be surprised FCA can deny you a warranty. I’m aware of the other case, but can’t recall if he had the data from oil analysis?

So i searched for the Pennzoil 5-40 and auto zone said the nearest store with it was 104 miles away. I then searched advanced auto and found them at 20 miles away. Went to the store and got the last 2 5 quart jugs. Manager informed me he won’t be getting any more again. Said they don’t sell well. And it didn’t ring up so he gave them to me for $15 per 5 qt jugs. I’m not sure if this is a penzoil thing or something else. But even Walmart didn’t have it. However they all had Castrol and the back of the quart said it meets the Chrysler MS 1991 or whatever the number is. I’d suggest people stock up on whatever they usually get. Not sure if there’s something bigger going on politically or something. But this oil should get me through Septemberish.

Advance Auto discontinued it. I bought 13 jugs of Platinum Euro for $14.25 ($2.85 per quart). If you can believe this, Advance Auto had 67 additional jugs in the warehouse for the same price. According to the gurus, shelf life is approximately 5 years for synthetic, so I was maxed out. I purchased enough oil to get me through the next 4+ years.

I was doing UOA on my Amsoil as I do with most, but stopped when they always came back good at 10K miles and provided me with a good baseline. I just plan on 10K intervals as specified and an OEM oil filter. If I changed habits doing a bunch of shot trips or idling, I would start checking UOA's again.

Right, the reason I’m mentioning testing isn’t for my own peace of mind but to stash that on the desk of the FCA rep that would try to tell me the oil is doing wrong on the engine. In which case my plan is to run Amsoil Euro MS because it doesn’t shear like the other allegedly and continuing to do my tests every oil change for a potential warranty claim denial.

I've had discussions with Amsoil tech support about both the transmission issue in CA and that the spec that FCA lists vs whats on Amsoil's euro oil bottle say. They claim that their EFM 5w40 exceeds the min FCA spec and therefore cannot void warranty.

If the wind blows wrong....someone will try to void your warranty.......

oh boy, this thread is back!

Hey and also don't forget this other thread:
https://www.jeepgladiatorforum.com/...ners-manual-update-to-oil-requirements.55491/

NOTE 1: the wording in the user manual was relaxed for the 2022s. The relaxed wording only 'requires' the API donut (and full synthetic, right weight, etc.).
NOTE 2: Jeep support (allegedly) in the second page of that thread by @BigG specifically mentions that T6 is an option. I say allegedly because if you're worried about your warranty, an internet post should not be considered sufficient proof, but you are free to call the number to hear first-hand and document the conversation in your own owner's manual.

Don't bet on FCA not doing everything they can to deny a warranty claim on anything. They have more lawyers than you do with nothing but time and money to fight you.

Dealer just denied my claim for the electronic sway bar disconnect on my 21 JTRD because they claim the damage to the connector and harness was caused by an exposed ground wire that was part of the factory aux switch option that was connected to LED lights.

This is the third time I've had issues with this system because the connector does not seal against water intrusion which causes the pins to corrode, short and overheat the wiring harness at the connector that plugs into the elect sway bar. I guess they got tired of fixing the problem and tried to find a reason not to cover it.

They want over $5000 to fix. I'm going to fight it but expect it to take months or longer and not sure what the outcome will be.

Di-electrical grease smeared in the plug will keep the the pins from corroding. Also it will help to keep the water out. Should use the grease on your locker plugs at the axle too.

They were $24.00 here... Typical West Coast price hikes.... Still a pretty good deal I guess, but I did have to listen to the Parts Genius behind the counter tell me how the EuroSpec doesn't mean anything and that all oils are the same.

Not a fan of Pennzoil. What other options are there?
