Hope they make it in manual which I doubt they will....

Can you imagine how expensive it will be. And, mechanical vs electric reliability around water boarding? The lack of changes to the 24’ make more sense if a PHEV is coming in 25’ as a major redesign. There’s a lot of possibilities in a truck form factor. Eventually a large solid state battery system (I don’t think that’s coming to the 4xe soon), coupled with a tiny engine as a range extender will make ICE Jeeps obsolete. The JL 4xe gamble paid off so Jeep has every incentive to make their next iteration of a hybrid more EV with a bigger battery and a smaller engine.
Look at what Koenigsegg is doing with a 3 cylinder freevalve hybrid drivetrain. We don’t need 2000HP so a much detuned, smaller, cheaper version of this concept with a little 3 cylinder engine and a powerful electric motor would be killer. You don’t need a big engine for V8 torque if you have a motor.
There’s other benefits to a full PHEV lineup. Jeep can stop wasting money on stuff that no one wants just to meet their CAFE requirements. They can focus on what sells which is Wrangler, Gladiator and Grand Cherokee. They can worry less about the effect on fleet mileage from big tires and more off road centric features. In other words, an electrified Jeep lineup might very well be a more hardcore lineup. Electrification also presents some opportunities for alternative forms of 4x4. Ditching driveshafts and axles opens up a lot of possibilities. They don’t have to stick to a traditional drivetrain if they use a pure motor-based system with an ICE for charging. Lastly electrification, means better built-in overlanding features. I just hope these don’t cost $100k, but in theory the ability to focus on profitable platforms should make them more affordable.
Yes $87,000 today for a Quad Motor Rivian which is less than a 392. Then apply Jeeps economy of scale and the addition of an ICE, the subtraction of some of the battery size, and so on. Obviously I’m not suggesting Jeep puts a Koenigsegg engine it. I’m saying they use a similar setup. We use sealed electrical systems all the time. Your transmission is full of electronics and neither those components nor the mechanical components handle water intrusion. There’s electrical components all over the current truck. Electrical systems and mechanical systems both have the same challenges. Electrical systems actually have a number of advantages in harsh conditions. We use electric motor propulsion in the harshest environments, underwater at depth, on Mars. I don’t think some water crossings in a Jeep is going to be an issue ?. On the other hand I’ve had a number of well maintained any greased U-Joints grenade themselves over the years, from internal corrosion. Can you imagine how expensive it will be. You know they use EVs, not ICEs at the bottom of the ocean right? Technically a full EV could drive fully submerged if designed for it.Can you imagine how expensive it will be. And, mechanical vs electric reliability around water boarding?
Oppy’s mission to Mars was supposed to last 90 days before it was expected to die from the harsh environment. It went on for over 14 years. The “soil” on Mars that’s blown up by the wind is like metallic blasting grit. Mars killed it by burying the poor guy but I think Oppy won.You know they use EVs, not ICEs at the bottom of the ocean right? Technically a full EV could drive fully submerged if designed for it.
2.0t. there is nothing else they can make it work with.Wondering with what engine they want to pair it. I have a Wrangler 4xe and it's fun to drive on roads. Now, I also have a JTRD, and I love the low end torque and fuel mileage even when towing, but I have doubt's the current 2.0T engine of the 4xe setup will provide a similar experience.
Totally agree about the blue/red combo … it’s ?????1. The blue/red combo in the teaser is hot as fuck
2. I predict a LOT of headaches for Jeep with blown engines trying to do truck things in the 4xe and having the 2.0t give up. There's a good reason the 2.0t wasn't ever an option on its own. Now they want it to move the truck AND charge the battery while towing and over the low curb weight?
The diesel issues will pale in comparison.
Lease this thing if you go for it. Do NOT get stuck without at least an out at 36 months or whatever lease you take. Do NOT buy it and be stuck.
Yeah, we are talking about FCA/Jeep here lol. I just have no faith in fully EV from FCA.Yes $87,000 today for a Quad Motor Rivian which is less than a 392. The new Tacoma hybrid is auto only; manual isn’t paired with it.Hope they make it in manual which I doubt they will....
Is there a full pic of it somewhere?Totally agree about the blue/red combo … it’s ?????
You literally can’t buy or order a diesel and ALL are effected so no the diesel is / would be worse.1. The blue/red combo in the teaser is hot as fuck

Yeah I ordered my '23 JTM w/o leather and I did not want the advanced safety group(because I hate in my my wife's JLUR)the whole "X" packaging is such bs, but it's nowhere near as bad as ditching the overland trim. Leather seats are now VERY expensive on a gladiator
