Sounds like making your home on Padre Island is the thing to do? If I still have the JT at that point maybe I can just make it a weekend thing to drive around pulling out the stuck people in the sand.
Perhaps. There's this guy Robmotive that lives near there and these other guys from JK Gear and Gadgets used to live down there and it's gorgeous.

Just last month I had it appraised for $35k at one dealership and $40k at another for trade in.
I am just wondering, when you had the $40K offer last month, why did you not move on that then? What was KBB saying it was worth last month?

I owed $50,000 on it and the dealership couldn't get any banks to loan me the money.. I was basically gonna trade it in for a $30,000 vehicle, and they said they don't like to loan more than the vehicle is worth..

Being underwater suck. Been there before many years ago.

There really is no magic pill or words of advice I can give because it boils down to a math problem that I am sure you are well aware is limited in maneuvering out from without compound the problem further.

This subject has been brought up before, especially since November of last years when leftover 2023's were plentiful and deep discounts were driving the used market down in turn.

I have a 2022 Rubicon also and have watched my trade in values pretty much ebb and flow between $33K to $36K for the last 6 months. Just is what it is.

I have another vehicle so I have no problem just selling it if I have to.

I'm actually not too far away from what I see other people selling theirs for.

I paid 60K about 2 years ago plus T&L. I have put about 10K in mods installed by myself. I am not upside down as I have paid cash for it all. With 16K miles on it I don't care what the worth is for another 4 years when the warranty is over. Glad I am not trying to sell it now.

Dealers were trying to keep living like they were during shortages where vehicles that showed up on their lots sold immediately for a markup. It's taken them a few years but they finally have opened up their eyes and seen that their lots are packed full of unsold vehicles, and so both the new and used markets are finally correcting.

I just checked the value of my Gladiator by VIN on KBB.com and it said $22,000-$30,000 for private party?????????????????!!!!

Is KBB smoking some powerful mind altering drugs or is this true????

Sounds completely insane..

Just last month I had it appraised for $35k at one dealership and $40k at another for trade in.
As a dealer kbb is really not accurate 95% of the time new car stores use it to take in trades but sell off nada or the new owners of nada I as a dealer use the mmr method which is based of real auction and retail sales. Prices have changed but maybe 5 or 10 % but definitely not that much

A vehicle is the worst investment you can spend your money on, if you bought it thinking your gonna get your money back you did it wrong. Enjoy it instead of looking at all the negative crap people say about jeeps because they probably drive a nissan leaf.
Please stop assuming stuff. REALLY. It's clear you didn't read anything coz I wrote about my 6 years of multi-faceted research on the entire used market of 3 different manufacturers and 3 different gens, six+ different year models of both Wranglers and Gladiators to see how the prices stack up against new and how much the depreciation is ...

This is why people online REALLY need to read entire things before commenting and stop assuming things.

I'm not offended (anymore) but this is just an annoying recurrence.

I have not noticed this to the extreme that KBB was reporting for me. I just checked two dealerships' used inventory and the prices are not extremely reduced on used vehicles, and I checked new also.

I don't notice any change in the prices for either new or used.

This is what I checked for new:
https://www.autonation.com/cars-for-sale?mk=jeep&cnd=new&md=jeep^^^gladiator|jeep^^^wrangler|jeep^^^wrangler 4xe

For used I checked AutoNation and another local dealership all their used Wrangler / Gladiator inventory. Doesn't seem much different.. Selling a 2022 JTR for $47k which sounds about right.

That would be great for buyers if the price goes down. The prices have gone up like crazy.

Agree and disagree some vehicle purchase or horrible while others are pretty good Jeep is by far one of the best car purchase out there resale has it slumps but over the past 35 years I've been a dealer Jeep wranglers are one of the best at holding there value.

Except for the situations in which something awful happens that requires you to make cash - quick, why do you care about the value of your two year old truck?

Like, I see people on this forum and others all the time going into debt to buy a vehicle (which is par for the course unless you have a wad of cash sitting around), and then a couple years later trading it in on a more expensive vehicle and just continuing the cycle every few years.

Do folks like car payments that much? They are depreciating assets. Buy them, drive them, pay them off, and enjoy that sweet spot (between 50k miles and 150,000 miles) where you can drive with no major component failures (typically) and no car payment (assuming you paid it off of course).

Do they hold their value? compared to basically any other vehicle - YES. But they still depreciate, not sure why this is surprising.

I was in the auto business for 34 years. I was at the zone level and dealer management level. Jeeps have always held better money than most other makes. Even when Jeeps were made by AMC, they still held good money. I believe it had to do with just being the iconic Jeep. Even in England, any 4 x 4 truck is referred to as Jeep. Now if you want to lose money, get a Hyundai ,Kia or other throw away car or truck. Jeeps have their problems, so do all other cars and trucks. I had a 2004 taco trd 4x4, and the frame rusted and they never fixed it . Do all toyo's stink, NO there one of the best cars and trucks made. But all in all ,there is nothing that looks like a Jeep. So anyone who downs them and say's there not worth anything, is full of BS and doesn't know what they're talking about. Period !
