Did someone recommend the F106SX? If so, there could be two possibilities for the recommendation. One benefit of the SX is that the valve can swing out of danger when not in use (this would be for those who are off-roading and want to reduce the risk of making contact when going over obstacles). Or the extension was needed to clear the recessed drain pain design. I'm now wondering if there's not enough clearance to install the F106N due to the OE drain plug being recessed around the drain pan.
It's been so long I couldn't tell why I got that one! It could very well be that I wanted the valve lever tucked away since we do a lot of off road.

The Fumoto site is recommending 5 different possibilities. https://www.fumotousa.com/?target=level_front_page

That's interesting. It looks like Fumoto stopped making the recommendation for the 3.0L diesel in 2022 and 2023. I wonder if that is an error on their part or if the pan changed.
2023 Wrangler looks like the same part numbers as my old jalopy. Must be a lazy coder not updating the site?

I asked the question in the Jeep Wrangler and Gladiator EcoDiesel Facebook group. Those who responded said they are running the F106N, so that's what I ordered. I'll take pictures once I get it installed so that others can make a more informed decision when considering exposure and clearance.

I been wanting one of these for years, but I keep internally debating and always go with a super strong magnetic stainless steel oil plug. I’d like to believe it’s worth a little oil on my fingers.

I use one of these;

Made in USA. They have a quick valve version too which looks like a better design that has some protection. But the magnet is crazy strong, I always throw them on when I do my first oil change at 1000mi.

There's nothing wrong with a magnetic drain plug. I especially like magnets on the differentials and transmission. Engines are a little more refined, so magnets on an engine oil pan should remain pretty clean

If I had a choice between a magnetic oil drain plug or a fumoto valve, I'd choose the fumoto every time. Oil changes are a lot more fun, less messy, and quicker with the fumoto!

Thanks for the link. I'm going with magnet over the valve. Better not have an enemy with that valve there lol. Wonder if anyone went under and drained so the owner starts with no oil.

It is in the realm of possibility, I guess but I would imagine most would notice the Exxon Valdez size puddle of oil oozing out from underneath. What you suggest is not really a thing in real life, but it could never be zero.

I think if it was a prevalent thing of people having their oil drain as an act of vandalism, late model Ford owners with the plastic oil pans and 1/4 turn plastic drain plugs would be highly targeted for ease but we never hear about that.

Oh, I know even a person can open a drain plug if they really want to. I remember the story my mechanic friend told me. The neighbor told him not to park in front of the house. One day he had to. He said there was no other spots available. It is a public residential street. Went to work next morning and it made the 8 mile drive before knocking. There was no oil on the ground either so they would’ve collected it. He suspected the neighbor because of the incident And mention, the other neighbors also were warned about him and his personality.

Any risk offloading with that valve? Can things hit on the trail possibly moving it ?

I installed the F106N on my 2020 Ram EcoDiesel back when it was new. The drain plug is in a different location compared to my 2023 Jeep Gladiator EcoDiesel. I just looked under the Jeep and it appears that the F106N would work on the Gladiator. Any objections before I order one?

None. Two oil changes with mine and I love it.

I bought the 106s with nipple and hose. It's a little shorter for clearance. The only complaint is the tube is a little stiff. https://a.co/d/094NEq5O

I cut the tube into 3"-inch lengths or so. The used oil flows into a repurposed 1-gallon water jugs. I then take the used oil to a friend of mine who burns it in his oil heater. I love the fumoto valve with nipple. 👍

10 or maybe 15 years ago, the Fumoto valves were sold without the plastic lock clip you see on them today. There was some very rare instances of people going through brush or tall field grass that had the lever open on them. It was so rare to almost be internet myth because there is two axis of motion to get the valve lever to move and open up.

The big thing with our JT's and JL's is that the straight design Fumoto valves sticks down from the pan somewhat and there is fear of it getting knocked off on serious trail use but almost in most of those potential instances, you would probably be smashing the oil pan anyways. Fumoto makes lower profile valves though like their F106SX design that mitigates much of that.

IMHO, where the Fumoto valve shines best in our Jeeps is those with engine and transmission skid pan protection and the valve makes oil changes that much easier.

+1; I ran a Fumoto for a decade on my last truck and liked it, but went Valvomax on this one
