This one in the picture below... Has anyone removed it before? Does it sound okay? I'm not going for noise, I just don't want it to sound awful or drone. Otherwise, I might need to have that muffler relocated.

The reason for removal is that .. at least on the 3.6, the (Relentless Fabrication) rear bumper that I'm getting requires that you cut the rear muffler off. Very likely that it's required on the diesel also.

I have the MBRP exhaust that removes both mufflers and the sound is pretty much unchanged.
Agree. It is a cleaner look and a little weight reduction. Maybe a tad louder.

As others have said, doesn't do much. I haven't heard first hand but there are videos of the comparison and it's identical sounding at least in a recording.

Mine's straight piped all the way and it isn't even very loud, the turbo is an impressive muffler all on it's own, even if you remove the other 6 ft of various filters

Previous owner cut the rear muffler and left the exhaust pointing straight back and it ended up melting the bumper while pulling my trailer so I would advise that you put a turn down on the exhaust if you cut the muffler off.

Good thing to note.

I was already considering either a muffler shop or just cutting the turn down off the end of the muffler and clamping it onto the pipe so I could DIY it in the driveway in an hour.

Either that picture is a reversed image from a call ph, or something I’ve never noticed, the resonator/tailpipe is on the opposite side? That might or may not make a difference with the bumper mount. Yea I said resonator, because that’s what it is, to help cancel highway drone once up to speed. So if you remove that part, you might experience more highway drone, also note the turbocharger will also help quiet the engine.

I have a friend getting one of these I hope he remembers to measure for a deflated stock tire to fit.
I think I would wait if getting a raw one and see how it looks , yes the round tube is in the way , but could a local fabricator make an arch above or below the resonator to clear it or even a flat heavy steel arch like what pipe fitters use to hold steel pipes going through floors, they come in many sizes you would need a six or eight inch I bet.
Just saying Eric and don’t forget….Jack

He's getting the same bumper?

I don't think you'll fit the spare tire but maybe.. They sell a version with a swing out tire carrier but with how Relentless Fabrication setup their tow hitch, it gets in the way of the spare.

I just plan to not have a spare, and invest in really good tires. That will offset the weight of the bumper and leave me with some cargo capacity for more stuff. lol

You won’t get any noticeable sound change unless you delete the dpf. I have a full straight pipe and it’s only loud at wot and cold starts. Driving there is barely any drone

I installed my Relentless bumper few weeks ago. I have a MBRP delete pipe and it needs to be shortened about 4". Haven't done it yet, I just relocated the last hanger down one bolt hole. After the Holidays I'll remove and cut out the needed pipe and Tig back together. I don't hear the exhaust at all inside even at WOT and outside its quite. Added bonus is the new bumper is lighter how much not sure but stock one is harder to pickup with the receiver attached.

I put a straight pipe on mine from MBRP within about a month of driving it off the lot. I think I had about 2k on the clock when I did. I cut my factory exhaust pipe to aid in removal. Simple and effective. I noticed zero difference in exhaust tone or performance.
