It never bothered me too much but I'm sure a lot of folks will be happy about this one.
I could care less, even though I hate it (as an engineer that doesn't "consume").

People should be more concerned about the MANDATED REMOTE KILL SWITCHES for cars/trucks/suvs sold in 2026 and after in the USA. Oh, and don't get me started on the passive breathalyzers they're about to mandate for new car/trucks/suvs too!

I have a 2025, so it has it and it's disabled with my Tazer. I am curious if this means the dealer could just disable it now if it's not mandated.

Hopefully that stuff will be able to be disabled with a tazer or programmer.
Without getting political, humans tend to innovate faster than government can regulate.

It would be nice if the government gave the okay for a dealer to do this for us that want it disabled.

My understanding is that a Tazer can be married to a Gladiator, change the setting for stop/start and then be unmarried. The setting will remain as programmed and the Tazer will be available to marry to another vehicle many times as long as it is unmarried each time.

Dealer constraints would probably stop them from changing factory settings, but it seems to me that an enterprising independent shop might want to have a Tazer in their toolkit for changing setting like start/stop and pick up a few extra shillings.

Start/stop joins the graveyard of wrongheaded innovations like the seat belt ignition interlock.

For you youngsters out there, the seat belt interlock... never mind.

That's basically what this thread is about, it's no longer mandated. Grab a Tazer, Jscan, or find one of the other alternatives like the bypass cable.

1) You can't unmarry or it will restore whatever settings you had before marrying. Otherwise they'd lose out on hundreds of sales if 1 person shared with 10 friends.

2) FYI, Wranglers and Gladiator don't have ignition interlocks, for off-roading reasons. They DO have seatbelt locks that will hold you in place after a certain degree of lean/body roll...but good luck staying in when you get back in because they don't unlock again until you're below a certain degree of lean/body roll too. I learned this latter part the hard way, luckily I had doors on.

Despite these EPA rollbacks, we have already paid for the research and development of the mandates that happened years ago. Fat chance of the consumer benefiting from these rollbacks. Third party manufacturers may be able to sell delete kits for some of the emission systems for 2012+ vehicles, but that's just another cost to the consumer. Diesel emission deletes could pay for themselves, then what happens if a new regime takes over? The consumer will again, get stuck with another bill the have their vehicle restored to original.

Maybe the idea is to get us all to abandon our emissions laden automobiles and buy new less restrictive autos.
