I was wondering about that. Skip the de tune and swap the clutch out.

We were looking to get my wife a 2 door JLR manual to supplement my JTM, but I don’t think we will do that now unless a better solution can be had.
Unfortunately, since mine isn't built yet (order is in, but no window sticker yet) I am assuming mine will come with the reprogram regardless. From what I understand the torque reduction is only applied when Clutch temp reaches dangerous levels, almost like a limp mode BUT I question how on earth the temp is being recorded? Clutch temp sensors are about as real as unicorns and Santa Claus ?

If they truly do reduce your torque, how long till a class action?

Ya’ll with a manual have every right to be angry if this is the case.

I *hope* it’s a temporary solution until they engineer a permanent fix.

There already is a class action out there. Was posted on the FB page. Anyone interested should be able to Google it and get it to pop up.

I was thinking along the lines of buying one off the lot and swapping the clutch. Is the dealer likely to update a jeep on the lot before it sells?

Limp mode would not be good at any time, but especially if you are out on a trail somewhere and it adds hours to your trip home. They should just replace it.

It will be done, as there is a stop sale on now, so they can't sell them without the "fix"

I am curious if you can clear a "limp mode" mode with a code reader. That would be useful if this becomes a real issue out in the sticks.

Nope!

Far deeper than anything a code reader can do. I had a Colorado diesel that had all sorts of limp home modes. All of which required a limp, straight to the dealer to clear.
Total new tuning might be able to remove it My 'rado was tuned, but it didn't clear codes, it just removed the hooks that allowed it to de-regulate. But the codes and warnings were persistent. But then you got a software tune, and then a clutch you will need to remedy.

I know alot of people are not up for doing it, but I am genuinely curious if replacing the clutch with an aftermarket option will eradicate the possibility of this happening. I dont mind throwing some money at the truck for some piece of mind. Its already overpriced whats another $1000 ?
I have looked into this also, centerforce had to pull theirs off the market due to a defect also..... they had to redesign it.
