Just emailed Lisa about my case, and got a auto-reply that it is case closed... Anybody getting any updates from JC or FCA?

I was just informed today that my "struts " arrived for my Gladiator. I have an appointment next Tuesday for them to install them. First I know there are no struts on the Gladiator, second no I don't think the "struts " or shocks will fix the bottoming out problem. But I guess someone has to go through this process so they say that didn't work. I will make sure to keep this post updated with what they do replace and what the results are.

My Solution to this Issue. First a little back ground. I purchased my Jtrd Rubicon in December of 20 and did extensive wheeling throughout Johnson Valley, death Valley, Anza Borrego and Glamis. . Got to the point where I could anticipate the Bottoming outA and learn to apply the brakes to avoid it. The truck as delivered had quite a bit of rake and only 2 inches of up travel to the bomp stops. I installed a set of ACOS pro hydraulic bump stops, Setting the up travel at 3.5 inches. The bump stops also increase the spring rate during the last 2 inches of travel by 125 pounds. Now my Rubicon does desert roads like a Mojave and doesn’t bottom out. Hope this helps y’all.
I’ll still except the jeep version of a diesel lift if they offer it, but I’m happy. Keep on jeep in

Have come late to this thread. 2021 GRD, 33" factory wheels, with factory steel bumper (stubby set up), 1200lb winch with carbon rope and 1" spacer lift. Hit anything over 15 mph like speed bumps or small pot holes and it bottoms out (bump stops). Thanks for all those contributing to these 17 pages. Like others I tow trailers so big lifts with tires aren't part of the plan. Looking forward to what people come up with. I would think a set of 2' leveling springs like I had on my last JKU would fix the problem. Been nearly 10 years since I installed them but I believe the were Mopar's. Kind'a surprised there's not something out yet for the diesel.

Mopar lift is the fix.

Mopar lift is the fix.

Is it an overall lift or just a leveling lift?
edit....just looked it up. I don't want to raise the rear any but ok with the front coming up and being leveled.

@Barbarian,

Thanks for sharing your solution with us. How difficult is it to change the bump stops out?

Thanks again,

Jay

Took me about two hours and then another half hour because I didn’t read the directions clearly. It really was quite easy. My first test drive out to the Johnson Valley revealed a world of difference. I use the Taser to disconnect the front sway barAnd was able to travel at very high speeds on the desert roads just like a Mojave. Good luck.

I picked up my new JTR diesel last week.. on the way home it bottomed so hard on small bump that i seriously thought something had broke. The next day it did it again on a small gutter on my street.. (mind you I hit it going slower that I do in my 220k mile beater commuter car that doesn’t come close to bottoming).
I’ve set up several Jeep suspensions with custom shock mounts, spring perches, bumps, limiting stripes, etc and have a lot of miles in the desert. I can tell you that for certain, the spring rate and shock valving are not adequate in any way, shape or form. Now....Consider that Jeep has certain springs and shocks for the 392JL as it sits level and has a firm, but comfortable ride. Why the hell was the JTR diesel not given the same treatment? It sorely needs a longer front spring with a higher rate and properly valved 2.5 Fox shocks. I’m going to go by my dealer Monday and talk to them( they are friends of mine), and let them know that they will likely be answering some questions from other buyers and to be ready for that.

For me, I’ve already ordered a RK 3.0 X Factor (diesel spec springs) that will solve the issue in my case. I also have some Metal Cloak bumps that will be used when the lift goes on. Until then, it’s gonna sit and not be driven much.

If anyone is curious. Same thing happens if you do the teraflex 1.5” leveling kit. With the 3/4” rear still bottoms out.

Hmmm...I used to bottom out over speed humps with the plastic bumper at 20-25... So I added the Terraflex 1.5 up front and DayStar 3/4 in the rear. Now with Steel bumper and winch, no bottoming at at 30mph. BUT, BUT, I did NOT use the terraflex bump stop extensions, which is a risk I guess, but I decided not to because the gap between the foam and stop was sooooo small before the spacers, and now it looks like what I think it should be.

Wish jeep would just send me a Mopar Lift kit and we could put this to bed :)

Creepy - Good looking Gladi by the way... the Red is really starting to grow on me!

Yeah there is no reason to install the bump stop extensions if you stay stock size tires. I would have left mine out as well!

I really think getting some hydraulic bump stops would make it so much better... But grabbing a saw and cutting up my new jeep isn't something I will do quite yet :)
