Beat me to it. I was going to suggest that paying the dealer roughly $100 wouldn't make it worth a thing.I just plugged in to KBB a 22 Mojave with 19K miles with and without the tow package and it only list $200 premium difference.
I do not think the juice is worth the squeeze trying to get the VIN updated with it even if possible.
(I also question if they'd do it at all because there may be other differences unseen - such as different spring numbers - not all springs are the same, and the tow package springs could well be different and as a buyer of a used vehicle, I'd be really PO'd to later find it was owner added parts represented as a factory tow package)
Something I have also wondered - when the dealer did my 2020 update after I added the passive entry, they made a note in the system that it was dealer installed........Just curious, what would be the reason to do this?
Often times people get things added to their VIN because of programming and retaining that change during updates. But there's nothing like that for the tow package, it's just a physical mod, so having that added to the VIN won't really do anything for you.
I'd say don't waste your time trying. Is there something I'm missing?
Is that a CYA thing?
They did it for me I believe in part because of the rivalry between themselves and another dealer in the area after I told them the "sales guy at the other place didn't get the box checked after my wife and both said we wanted that option as we were ordering". After I said that, they somehow seemed "different" when talking about it. I know there's a rivalry between their shops because the one is swamped with "work the other shop messed up" (their words!)
Anyway, when talking a truck like these with the level of Mojave, I figured - it can't be over a couple hundred bucks difference and the cost of the parts and the effort blows that away, why pay more for no return?
