Cheap 12v, the kind you hook directly to the battery via alligator type clamps, with a higher PSI rating. Think it's a 150psi rated or something like that. Takes a few minutes per tire, if you're way down. You can spend 3 times as much on nice compressors to save 4 minutes though. Joking aside, if and when this cheap POS dies then might actually look at a better one. Needed one on short notice so got what could find off the shelf one day only reason got what I have.

I picked up a twin piston unit from NAPA, identical to all the Chinese made twin piston units, added a pressure switch and quick connect, and can do 4 tires simultaneously from 15psi to 45psi in about 5 minutes. Paid maybe $200 for the compressor and 4-tire kit total.

I just use a portable Viair compressor. I think its the 450P.

I have a Deutsch connector at the front bumper that I plug it into so that I don't have to open the hood, and the connection stays weatherproof when not in use. It also allows me to attach the alligator style clamps back to the compressor and use the compressor with other vehicles if needed.

I've only aired down my truck once in three years though, so I didn't do on board air like I did in my last Jeep.

i went in with the "buy once, cry once" mentality

IJKP-27 Package Deal with ARB Twin Compressor CKMTA12

Probably one of the most expensive options around, but the compressor is bullet proof, fast, and has 100% duty cycle which is handy when I'm airing up not only myself but a buddy or two.

You can spend 3 times as much on nice compressors to save 4 minutes though
Saving time is less about the individual minutes or seconds saved for me and more about the resistance to change. My nature is pretty lazy, so making something easy to do doesn't just make it easier, it also makes it significantly more likely to happen in the first place.

same reason i spent $500 on autolynx over the notably cheaper JKS quick disconnects. i'd read stories about how the JKS system can be a pain to reconnect, and sometimes even disconnect if you can't find perfectly flat ground and knew that any system that's going to give me problems is a system that's probably going to get skipped a lot. time savings there? easily less than a minute. BUT, but I use my autolynx every time i'm offroad so the extra cost is worth it to me.

A lot of setups use the ARB compressors. They have the new brushless models or the classic style twin and single compressors. I recommend the ViAir compressors as well. I have over a dozen different mounting methods for the Gladiator depending on where you want it and what compressor you use. Let me know if you need any help working out a solution.

MORRFlate TenSix compressor, AirHub with the 4 fill hose kit. I ran fused power to the bed terminating to an Anderson connector operated via solenoid. Built a jump box and left the gator clamps on the compressor. The jump box will allow the use of other temp high power accessories.
