Any regrets running load range E tires?

I am happy with my Falken AT3W E rated tires. No punctures, etc. on rocky trails, worry free. I run 44 to 50 psi. Just completed an 800 mile trip through the mountains at 50 psi, about 22 mpg.

That’s extremely high pressure unless you’ve got your Jeep seriously loaded down. You’re reducing comfort and handling and increasing the wear on the center tread of your tires. I’d definitely reduce that a bit.

I have 285 70 17 General Grabber ATX E on my Sport @36psi and have been totally happy with them

Against the grain here; I purposefully did not go E. As C was an option on my tire size. Some sizes it’s not an option.

In this rig E is not even remotely needed for payload.

All it adds is weight, cost, an sacrifice ride quality.

So I did not go E.

What ever you do, do a chalk test, it’s just marking across the tire with kids chalk and drive around the block. You want an even wear. If only the center is worn off you are over inflated, or down.
50 psi in an E rated tire is WAY to much unloaded. You will wear out the enter of your tire.

Most report 33-38 psi tire depending on the right air range.

Funny thing, BFG KO2 Load Range E tires weigh less than the C's do. The manufacturer had them listed at 2 more lbs and we've actually weighed them and came one to 2lbs more for the C's so it's pretty accurate. Not sure how other brands compare

Thanks so much guys, dropped the psi to 38 and rolling happily along, no longer getting bounced out of the seat. With the max psi at 80, i thought 50 would work, not so much.
Mpg was back to 28, which i just can't believe. Psyched and relieved

I went with 35 E’s on my Ram, regretted it, upsized to C 35’s on Gladiator and the ride is much better…I’d be hard pressed to ever buy an E tire again unless it was absolutely functionally needed.

I just put load range E on and it’s not enough of a ride difference to influence my tire decision. They are Goodyear Ultraterrains.

Right, but you can’t tell me that going from a 32ā€œ P rated all season all the way to a 33ā€ all terrain E load on my stock 3.73s isn’t going to make a bigger difference in my mpg than a P rated or C rated all terrain. I’ve been paying attention the weight differences and it’s huge.

I know my case is different than most, I took a HUGE MPG hit going from 2017 Canyon All Terrain (3.6l/8 speed 4wd). I got 24 mpg hwy consistently to 16-17 hwy consistently. I need to take it in and see what’s up, but I definitely can’t make it worse so I’m actually going to probably keep it at a P rated all terrain going from the stock all season 255/70/18 to a 265/70/18 A/T. I’d do a C Load if anyone knows a decent A/T C load in that size.
This is kinda funny now.

At about 10k miles, my engine finally broke in and I started getting a lot better mpg. What the mfr claimed. At 4K miles, I put E load 285/70/18 Dueler Revo 3s on it. I get the mfr mpg rating now and with bigger, heavier A/Ts. The Revo is one of the lightest E loads in the market so that probably helps a lot.
