Aux Delete- Lets see how it goes.

After upgrading from a Chrysler Corporation battery to an Odyssey yesterday I noticed continued Voltage drop. 14.1 yesterday on the way back from the battery shop. 13.6 when I took the kids to school this morning. 12.8 after my plasma donation appointment. So deleting the Aux this morning before I have to go get the kids from school. Called a couple local shops just to double check my knowledge of the process but they didn’t want to get into trouble so they gave me NO information. Kudos to Rebel Off-road for being helpful!!!! Just another day of being Mr. Mom.

And the battery lead and terminal post electrical taped. Probably didn’t need to do the post but Mr Murphy is a pretty good friend so I like to error on the side of caution.

I did this over the weekend. But the less invasive way. I removed the negative cable from the main battery that goes to the aux battery, tapped it up and then removed fuse 42. After doing so, I did put the main battery on the charger in AGM mode to ensure the main battery was in good heath. So far no issues. When I gave to replace the main battery again I'll remove the aux battery completely.

So it’s holding 12.8V under throttle and 14V during coasting. That’s according to off-road pages. It hasn’t had any issues starting the few times I did it and the voltage didn’t drop significantly on startup. It still seems a bit low to me. Any thoughts? I’m going to let it sit on the trickle overnight and see if that improves things now that the aux is gone.

When I did the aux delete, I ran the positive aux lead to the main battery terminal and the negative lead to the body. Didn't touch the aux lead going to the main neg. Going on 9 months and zero issues, Of course I swapped in a H7 battery while I was doing it.

I’ll look into this but from everything I was reading it was just remove the F42 fuse and disconnect the negative terminal. I can do a more thorough job of it later, and plan to, but today I had kids to taxi around. I actually think taking that battery all the way out and maybe using that area for a buss bar or something. Plenty of room for something about 400-600A in a block style.

Charging systems today are different from systems of the past. If your battery is fully charged the alternator will not continually charge the battery to 14.4. The system is constantly monitoring the charge state and health of the battery and maintaining a charge when needed. It is not uncommon to only seem battery voltage while operating.

I did it ,removed the battery left the PCR wired with wires tucked away and taped up , removed negative from main battery to aux battery coiled it up in a sandwich bag and left it where battery was if someone wants to hook it up again. Everyone thinks it is so hard to figure out which negative battery wire to remove is cause it changed at one time but taking the time to look you will see one goes to aux battery and one goes to frame. Putting the largest size battery in when replacing the main is a great idea if you don’t have the larger size .

I recently removed my aux battery and pulled F42. Now I'm looking at a group 94R Odyssey for the main battery and would like to know if anyone has used one for say 4-5yrs and had a good or bad experience?

I replaced my stock battery with an Odyssey and also replaced the aux battery with an Odyssey as well. Haven't had any issues. Always reads 14.5v when running, 12.8v when just accessory power on.
