Ok, I learned about the clutch replacement and after reading through this thread it doesn't seem like the way to go for me IF, BIG IF...
I read somewhere recently that Stellantis will refund some $ if you had the clutch replaced. Is this true?
If someone can point me to where this info is I would have a centerforce installed then get the Stellantis Refund- anyone?

Some have had success, but I think it will become difficult to get Stellantis to cover aftermarket clutch replacements now that they have finally started rolling out their "fix".

When I called the FCA recall center on 5/5/23, I was told that I would be fully reimbursed for parts (I confirmed non-OEM, non-Mopar, aftermarket) and labor, provided the work was done at a certified Jeep dealer. I then called my local dealer and convinced the service manager to install the aftermarket clutch, then I placed the order for ACT’s JP-6 clutch. Had the work done late May and submitted for reimbursement as directed on 5/30/23.
I was denied. I’ve submitted for reimbursement two more times and have been denied each time. Despite the “fix” having already been rolled out for 2023 and 2020 model years, Jeep insists there is no fix yet for 2022 and so they cannot approve my reimbursement request.
I called Jeep Wave yesterday and was told that my reimbursement was not denied, it’s essentially on hold until a fix is rolled out for MY2022.
Frustrating, to say the least, but at least I have a solid clutch and I’m not worried about catching fire.

I had the temporary fix in October.

Jeep Gladiator Clutch Recall (2/23/23): Clutch Pressure Plate May Overheat -- Affecting 70,000 Manual Jeep Wranglers and Gladiators Clutch recall Nov 2023 copy

Now the dealer is calling me to come back for another clutch and a software update. I told them I would be in touch in 50-75k miles.

I have been reaching out to dealer for a couple months now, infrequently. I understood fix for 22 MT is available but parts shortage/priority on new trucks. You are hearing fix not available for 22s still? I heard from a few JL sites that aftermarket fix, completed at a jeep dealer, was geting reimbursed ... not your experience it looks like. Ugh, I tow with my MT in summer, really hoped by tow season this would be buttoned up by Jeep's fix, now I am considering aftermarket again to be done with it, maybe reimbursed is a big maybe safe to say... clutch has a rattle under load, will generate some smell if i slip it too much in reverse... will try the phone pest/keyboard warrior a little longer.

Recall notice just issued by NHTSA:

Subject : Clutch Pressure Plate May Overheat

Your vehicle MAY be involved in a safety recall and MAY create a safety risk for you or your passengers. If left unrepaired, a potential safety defect could lead to injury or even death. Safety defects must be repaired by a dealer at no cost to you.

Why am I getting this email?
You are receiving this message because you requested to be notified by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) if there is a safety recall that mayaffect your vehicle.

The following may apply to one or more of your vehicles if your vehicle is listed below. Click on the NHTSA Recall ID Number below to read more about the safety issue and the reason for the recall.

To find out if your specific passenger vehicle is included in the recall, use our VIN Look-up Tool.

NHTSA Recall ID Number :23V116
Manufacturer :Chrysler (FCA US, LLC)
Subject :Clutch Pressure Plate May Overheat
MakeModelModel Years
JEEPGLADIATOR2020-2023
JEEPWRANGLER2018-2023

What is a recall?
When a manufacturer or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) determines that a vehicle creates an unreasonable risk to safety or fails to meet minimum safety standards, the manufacturer is required to fix that vehicle at no cost to the owner. That can be done by repairing it, replacing it, offering a refund (for equipment) or, in rare cases, repurchasing the car.

What should I do if my vehicle is included in this recall?
If your vehicle is included in this recall, it is very important that you get it fixed as soon as possible given the potential danger to you and your passengers if it is not addressed. You should receive a separate letter in the mail from the vehicle manufacturer, notifying you of the recall and explaining when the remedy will be available, whom to contact to repair your vehicle, and to remind you that the repair will be done at no charge to you. If you believe your vehicle is included in the recall, but you do not receive a letter in the mail from the vehicle manufacturer, please call NHTSA's Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236, or contact your vehicle manufacturer or dealership.

Thank you for your attention to this important safety matter and for your commitment to helping save lives on America's roadways.

Anyone know if the Artec full belly skid needs to come off for them to do this recall?

Also, based on the reprogramming, do you suggest taking the Tazer off and/or will it reset all of my current settings?

I installed the same clutch and what a change. It feels real.

Finding, getting and quitting jobs. Because they all suck.
Admit I did not read all 29 pages of this one, so forgive me if this has already been suggested... I ordered a 2023 that already had the recall done. Since everything must be lawyer proof and designed to the lowest common denominator of human intelligence; what if the only reason clutches are burning is because 20-somethings who were never taught clutching by their parents are just driving like.... 20-somethings who were never taught clutching by their parents and are showing off for their girlfriends after a couple beers?

I would be curious to know how many mature sensible adults driving like mature sensible adults within the towing capacities of their rigs have had their clutch explode.

If this were true, there would be burnt clutches in every make and model still sold with a manual. You really think the only car a young dumb kid would want to show off in would be a truck? Not a Mustang, Camaro, or Challenger? Not Caymans or 911s? No Miatas? No M's be they 2, 3, or 4? No WRXs or Supras?

I believe that this clutch assembly is more punishing for mistakes and poor driving habits than a more traditional setup, but as far as outright abuse goes, i'd be absolutely amazed if Gladiators and Wranglers held the title of most abused clutch. That award has got to go to the Mustang, Camaro, Challenger trio, and they don't have open clutch recalls.

Maybe. But my ex wife punished the hell out of mine and I´ve had no issues in 90k miles. She slipped it so badly one time, trying to start in 3rd gear, that she laid down a smoke screen that would have impressed the Navy.

I think that what these clutches are most sensitive to is proper bleeding of the slave cylinder. But that´s just a hunch. I think mine has never had a problem simply because when it was manufactured, it was very early production for the JL and they had teams of engineers on the assembly line with the workers and they ran the line very slowly. So I think it was bled 100% by the book. Again, just a guess. I´ve had zero issues and it feels like it did when new.

I don't think that's the main culprit. @ACTman did some testing on the stocker and I want to say it is only capable of holding something like 10ftlb more torque than the engine produces. Not a whole lot of wiggle room for error, IIRC.

I am not sure I buy that. If that was the cause, mine should have been torched a long time ago.
