OK turns out it was just an installation fluke because now I can push the button or turn the dial and nothing weird happens.

Interesting testing and results for sure, thanks for looking into that. One question I had was for the rear console port, did you try the set marked USB that will talk to the radio, or the set marked with the charging symbol that does charging only? Just curious, either way those aren't great numbers and I might look into something for road trips.
Checked the back one and tried a full thunderbott 3 cable as well. Same results as the others. For sure going with a mounting location like WXMan did on his.

Would I order this for $257 knowing that it might ship out three months from now? No.

But it's good to actually see a potentially legitimate listing for it. Thanks for that update. I hope to see one of these in a JT this summer!

Note from my dealership this morning

Good morning Mr. Smith,

I have no information on the installation procedure or installed location of the part at this time. The part does not show up on any of my catalogs as of today. What I can tell you is that I have placed an order for you. The part is in engineering review until April 30th, which is when the orders will actually be placed. I wish I had better news for you, thank you so much for your patience.

That is even worse. Engineering review till April 30th means this for sure won't ship out in May by the time you include manufacturing

I'm still going to wait. With the collision avoidance I would hate for the truck not knowing there is a trailer connected and then have the trailer pass me during a hard emergency brake.

If the collision avoidance system applies the brakes the REDARC will apply the trailer brakes as well.

‘Proportional Mode’ (Inertia sensing) for highway conditions will apply the trailer brakes to match the pressure being applied to the Gladiator brakes.

That would be the case if during a collision avoidance hard brake a brake signal is actually being sent to the brake controller. Most brake controllers are activated by a pedal switch which sends the signal. If the avoidance system is doing the braking the pedal switch is not being activated and therefore the brake controller is not being activated proportional or not. It all comes down to where the brake signal wire actually receives the information from. If its directly from the computer I think we would be in luck but, if its a pedal type switch that's going to cause issues. Of course I could be wrong and it would work just fine. Its too bad that it might be hard to do some testing to confirm.

I know what your saying but these have a sensor that detects the vehicle slowing down and will match the trailer brakes accordingly.

Literally similar to the weight in the seat belt reel - vehicle slows the weight moves - vehicle slows quickly, weight moves much, brakes applied more aggressively. That's how the system in my Chevy worked - the faster the decel, the harder the trailer brakes applied. So the controller needed to be installed as level as possible.
Maybe things have changed over time.
