One thing I would not do it is weigh it down with steel bumpers and winches. You can't order any steel bumpers on the Mojave for a reason.
That's one of the first things I did, but I'm not concerned about being able to jump dunes...

I mostly did it because both my wife and I have had reckless/careless idiots damage our vehicles while parked, and if adding a few pounds to my vehicle means all I have to do is spray a bit of bedliner on the steel, then count me in.

Odd tangent (and anecdote): When I swapped from the factory plastic bumper and Mojave skid plate to the Mopar steel front bumper and skid plate, my MPGs went up pretty noticeably. I was expecting it to drop if anything, but I wonder if having the bumper and skid plate joined helps with aero compared to the big gap they leave under the Mojave from the factory.

I tend to agree. Call me old school but jeeps need metal bumpers and a winch. I havent ever seen desert runners or otherwise rock plastic bumpers, though acknowledged that it may make the suspension work a little harder.

Not gonna lie, if I can get away without a real winch and do whatever work I can do with a come-along at a fraction of the cost, my wallet would really like to stick with a good come-along!

(I’ll probably end up with a new bumper and winch at some point… I’ve come this far building my dream Jeep, why stop now? ?)

TBH, the Sunrider is sitting in its box in my garage waiting for something better than 30 degrees in Michigan to install it.

I purchased my Mojave with a couple of my top 5 upgrades right off the get go. But these were my first 5 purchases:

-Bullet Point Cell Phone mount and IPad mount
-AEV 2" Lift
-Traded a guy plus a $100.00 for my stock bumper for his Rugged Ridge bumper
-Had a Fabricator build me an extension for my EVO bed rack so I can mount my previously owned RTT, traction boards, and 4.5 fuel tank (EVO Rack plus extension currently for sale message me if interested and in the SoCal area)
-Maximus 3 air cradle mount plus Viair Dual 444 compressors plus 2.5 tank

Don't know if that'll be big enough.
From experience using it in different situations from my 2dr stuck in mud and it not having enough pulling power to using it to get my last Gladiator up a rock ledge it was pinched directly into with no ability to back up I've seen a few outcomes with it.

I have made a number of mods to my Mojave. Some were for making the truck more capable/usable off-road, others were for aesthetics/interior protection.

If I list them in order of which I find were most effective for my objectives, I would rank the top 5 in each category like this:

For Off-Road capability:

1. Steel Bumper (E-Bay "Rubicon" Knock-Off)
2. Winch (Warn EVO 10S)
3. ARB Compressor (with mounting hardware, inflation kit, etc)
4. Leveling Kits (Terraflex 1.5" in front, Daystar .75" in rear)
5. Baja Designs LP6 Aux Lights

For Aesthetics:

1. Bestop Sunrider
2. Extang Tonneau Cover
3. Mopar All Weather Mats
4. Mopar Sill Guards
5. Quadratec Dead Pedal

I will be replacing the 33" original Falken Wildpeak Tires with 35" or 37" (KO2's ?) when I get a few more miles on them. It's tough for me to justify the expense right now with only 10K miles on the Gladiator.

Made a change to my bumper order today. I feel lucky to have found an ARB classic stubby in stock through the dealer I ordered the Jeep from. I really like the Evo aluminum stuff but don't want to take the chance of waiting on something that has potential to be delayed an extended period. The ARB is double the weight but I can live with that to have a sure thing. The ARB is apparently is a perfect fit with the Mojave skid plate.

Mine was based on having a 800ft stone driveway and not wanting to damage paint, and a short wife and young grand kids needing steps.
1.) Rockblotz mud flaps, love them, put on right away.
2.) Rough Country contour side steps. Work great look good.
3.) Rusty’s rear lower control arm skid. Got all three bolts in work great.
4.) RSI cap I didn’t want a pickup but a longer Jeep. Awesome!
5.) Curt front receiver for surf rod rack. Built great works great.
6.) Apex sway bar disconnects. Awesome but $$$.
I am always amazed how much more I have spent on this, the list goes on and on….Jack
How was the install on the Curt front reciever? How did you modify the skid plate? Would a sawzall do the job? Have the rod holder from my wrangler and trying to decide if I want to go that route with the Gladiator.
